Top 10 Cat Books of 2015

Our Cat Wisdom Top 10 Cat Books of 2015 are selected from traditionally published books we’ve reviewed this year. Every year we read far more book than we review.  To narrow down the list, we generally don’t review self-published or small press books, although there were some good ones like the cat story anthology Rescue Me. This year we are awarding only two Golden Purr awards one for fiction and one for nonfiction which we’ll announce next week. The books are listed in no particular order and all make excellent gifts for cat lovers.

A personal message from the editor.

Since it’s the eve of Hanukkah, I’m sharing one of several holiday-themed graphics and photo quotes I’ve been whipping up lately. The act of creating them is calming for me during a stressful time but there are so many, only some will be shared here. Some are on social or at Boomer MuseNot all of them about cat.s. There are dogs, trees and fog or whatever enchants in the moment.
No matter what your spiritual beliefs, this year feels like a time to dwell in the light. To focus on what’s good and soul nourishing. To appreciate a kindness, no matter how small. These are dark, unsettling times in the world and it’s not an accident that all the books on our top 10 list are uplifting or humorous. Some people deal with anxiety or worry by escaping into thrillers, murder mysteries or darker genres. If that’s your bag, wonderful.  Whatever you choose, do choose to read something. Reading remains an instant comfort, escape and adventure. There is a perfect one waiting for you.
Much love and light,

  1. Ouch! I think I only read about three from that list, maybe 4……..hoping to read far less next year……far, far, less, trust me.
We will be doing our list soon. I keep procrastinating.

  2. Great list, Layla. Some I’ve read, some I want to read. The surprise for me is that there is a new book titled The Cat Bible. The title was used by someone else years ago but you can’t copyright titles, that’s a good reason to remember that you have to be sure you’re buying the book you want.

This is a great time of year to think about brightening someone else’s life, whether with a book, a smile, or a sincere compliment. Make someone’s day! 🙂

  3. Thank you for the list ! It’s funny, Mum has just ordered “The Cat Bible” on Amazon today : it’s her Christmas gift from herself to herself ! Purrs

  4. Happy Hanukkah!
I would love the Fat Cat art book. I have been dropping hints but will probably end up buying it myself.

  5. Thanks for your Top Ten list…….we’ve read several of these. Here’s to a wonderful holiday season for ALL of your family!!!!

    Love, Pam and Sam

  6. Happy Hanukkah!!!!!
We are all about celebrating the joy of all wonderful things great or small. When you can celebrate the smallest of joys then you will always be able to find hope and joy in your life and world!
We celebrate in our hearts everyday.
There will never be anything that can replace the feel and smell and joy of a real book that you hold and love and share!
Thank you for sharing the wonderful list of so many books.

    Luvs to ALL!

  7. I need to get a copy of The Cat Bible. I LOVE Bob, but I’ve only had the chance to read the first book. Definitely want to read the rest of Bob’s story!!
