Wisdom Under Your Nose

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

Gris Gris here. If you look carefully, you’ll find me. I’m all smoke and mirrors. What you see is not always what you get. There are many mysterious cats like me. Perhaps you know one? We like to skulk in dark corners, slip through the narrowest openings and disappear into thin air. We are philosophers and deep thinkers. We are seekers of enlightenment. Herman Hesse wrote a great book for our kind called Siddartha. This is a quote from it.

“When someone is seeking,” said Siddartha, “It happens quite easily that he only sees the thing that he is seeking; that he is unable to find anything, unable to absorb anything, because he is only thinking of the thing he is seeking, because he has a goal, because he is obsessed with his goal. Seeking means: to have a goal; but finding means: to be free, to be receptive, to have no goal. You, O worthy one, are perhaps indeed a seeker, for in striving towards your goal, you do not see many things that are under your nose.”

The Shadow knows! As I get older I find more and more things get lost right under my nose..

When I search too hard for something I have a tendency to miss things close by. Too much concentration is not good for me… Moderation in all things is the rule to live by with rare exceptions for magical times.
