Time Spent With Cats Is Never Wasted
So, it’s another Monday with your feline friend Merlin. Where does the time go? Did you know cats and all other animals don’t mark, measure or fret about time? They don’t meow about having too little or too much time on their paws. It’s one of the reasons why humans find looking at cats doing anything and nothing is so relaxing. Being free from the boundaries of time forces us to be in the moment, a concept humans have difficulty with while cats have mastered it. Excuse me, that’s not true. We can’t master something we already are innately. Cat simply exist in the moment without effort or artifice.
Humans invented the concept of time and it’s subsequent measuring of it, from sundials to electronic flashing numbers but it comes at a price. It works well for train schedules and Swiss watches but who cares? Cats are never late for appointments because we don’t don’t make them. We prefer spur of the moment assignations. There is always time for a nap and I suggest humans would be happier if they spent more time napping with a purring cat. And if you’ll excuse me, I’m feeling very drowsy…tick tock…tick tock… listen to my voice…tick tock..tick tock, watch my tail swish back and forth, tick tock…ticktock and you are getting very relaxed….

Hi Layla,
It would be nice not to worry about time.
If I could come back as a different animal, it would be as a cat.

Merlin, our mom says that in her next life she wants to come back as a cat because we don’t worry about nothing…’cept maybe when our next meal will be!

Oh geez Merlin I could make like a cat in a tick tock if it just wasn’t for that pesky little issue of needing money to survive and feed the cats…. now a lottery win would definitely turn me 100% feline! Luv you muchies..Skeeter and Izzy and Mom Kat…>^..^<

Good point. When I’m volunteering at the shelter I realize that I’m more in the present moment, and all my worries and cares are suspended.

Muggins my kitty does have a small sense of time and space. When we changed the clocks back he batted my face and when that didn’t give any results, he gently bit my nose so he would be fed and happy. Quite persistant at it too. Heh heh..
I love your blog and it tickles me endlessly..

Thanks Nancy. Ah, yes the bat the face alarm clock works well!

‘Tis true wise Merlin…humans are hooked on time – watching it, passing it, being “on” time….we just take our days as they come. I’d happily snooze each day away with my Mom but she’s always rushing off here and there. I much prefer the life of a cat! Good thing I do huh??

This is true! I can watch my feline family for hours and fall asleep with them.
That’s one of my favorite clocks. My first one stopped working.
