Mancat Monday Wishes & Winners

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

It’s another Monday and fresh week. Did you have any wishes?

Domino is squeezing his eyes shut wishing as hard as he can for real spring to start. A spring full of warm, sunny days and no storms.

A freak thunderstorm turned the remaining snow into mud and a loud thunderclap made Domino run the the hills. Okay, not the hills but under the couch. He developed a fear of storm after several Nor’easters when he lived on the porch in his feral days. Super Storm Sandy was the icing on the storm phobia cake when tree limbs crashed down around us. He’s fine now and happy to engage Odin in outdoor chases and wrestling matches.

“If you could have one wish, what would it be? We all have hopes and dreams that we do almost anything to make real. And if we get lucky, and our wish is granted, maybe that’s what we call happiness.”

Odin isn’t bothered by the weather. He’s happy in the snow. He’s happy if it’s raining. He’s happy if it’s hot or cold or anything in between. The only time he whines is when the humans are too slow to let him outdoors. His pleasures are simple: A deep stretch. A lively walk. Intriguing scents of nature. The prospect of the hunt. Treats. Undercover snorgling with mom.

Our deepest wishes are whispers of our authentic selves.
We must learn to respect them.
We must learn to listen.

Merlin wishes for me to be happy. I wish he wasn’t wasting away one ounce at a time, but he is. That’s what chronic disease does when you’re 19 and a half. I’m happy to spend as much time as I can in bed, with him wedged between my knees, working on a laptop. I’m grateful for the crappy weather because I know I won’t spend half the day in bed once it’s warm. Merlin must know it too since he’s increasingly demanding. His cries melt into purrs the moment I wrap my arms around him. He’s in good spirits, mobile with no litter box misses and eating well. The only thing that annoys him is when he catches a whiff of Odin drool on me, which he does when he does his power kneading. They no longer share any time or space and I respect that. Merlin is jealous and this not the time to figure out why. He is in physical proximity to a human about 90% of the time now and much of that time with Domino. It makes him happy and that makes me happy.

There have been several instances where he’s responded to something unseen. Perhaps Gris Gris was placing a ghostly paw on his. Who knows. I’m well aware of dust motes and solar flares in images but these orbs in the lower left had no explanation. I’d like believe our little gray friend was passing by to offer comfort.

So, what do you wish, hope or believe might happen to you this week?

I wish I could have each of you win one of our giveaways and maybe one day you will. But today there is one winner of a copy of Five Feline Fancies and she is…

Sally Swanson. Congratulations! Please expect an email from Cat Wisdom 101 requesting your shipping address.
