Our feline book reviewer Merlin has this to say about a new chapter book for kids ages 7-9 called Hissy Fitz by Patrick Jennings. It’s being released tomorrow from Egmont Publishing but you can win a signed copy!
This is a book every cat can relate to. Napping is a sacred art and God forbid anyone who interrupts our feline right. Poor Hissy the cat lives with three Fitz children who won’t let him nap in peace. One of the kids, a three-year-old bratty twin is so horrid I wanted to do major whappy paws damage to his backside. It’s no wonder we have hissing cats from hell, not to mention a legion of grumpy cats. Thankfully Hissy, our hero escapes through the cat door to visit quieter places and cat friends in the neighborhood, but all is not  well. No matter how hard Hissy tries to nap, adventures of every furry kind threaten to disrupt his plan.
We like funny books but also appreciate clever ways to educate the public about cats. The author slips in nuggets about what cats like and how to handle us. Yes, kids do this at home. Don’t grab us. Let us come to you.
The delightful illustrations by Michael Allen Austin capture Hissy cat’s adventures purrfectly. While the book is written for you kids, older kids and adults will like it too. My mom, Layla finds reading children’s books a relaxing antidote for stress. We both give Hissy Fitz our highest rating of 4 Paws.

Our gray one-eyed foster gal Nou Nou reminds me a bit of Hissy and does not like being disturbed. She’s been known to be hissy but thank goodness we have no bratty kids around.
Okay, excuse me while I go back to my Sunday snooze. See some of my cat friends posting their Sunday selfies
I’m working on my own childrens’ books so this book would be excellent “research”. Please enter me!

I would love this for my girls and myself too
Mommy can’t stop laughing at the name Hissy Fitz!
I used to go nutz if anyone innerupted me when I washed. I’d lash out and attack. No I’m more mellow—sorta, at least while I’m washing. Violet is only 3 but we think she’d like the book when she gets older. Word has it she’s been giving dogs rectal exams.
A paws up from Merlin is a paws up from me too!

That sounds like a great book. I don’t like being disturbed either because it usually means pills or injections.
I still get error 404 and have to remember to comment from the homepage and not the post page that comes up in the reader.
