Cats love soft snuggly places of all kinds but most cats aren’t crazy about traveling, vet visits or getting pilled. Penny Hymes, a tech vech, decided to design The Kitty Kuddly, a cozy “snuggle bag” to make life easier and cozier for cats. Penny makes these herself, one bag at a time from soft polar fleece and also makes ones for dogs and smaller critters.

At first glance The Kitty Kuddly looks look a soft-sided nest which can be used as is or transformed into bed with any small cushion. I used a small decorative pillow to show how easy it is (top photo). We received a tiger print one which matches our sofa nicely. Cats like putting their own scent on things and I recommend spraying the bag with Feliway to hasten the calming connection with a new Kuddly or prior to going to the vet or other travel by carrier.

For cats who hate going into a carrier or being pilled can simply and safely be scooped into the bag and placed into carrier or wrapped burrito style for pilling.

To make for a calmer vet exam, the bag can easily be removed and placed onto the examining table where the cat stays in their cozy nest and off the cold stainless steel table. Our elderly cat Merlin was our “tester” and I found the Kuddly handy for carrying him up and down stairs. He’s still feisty for pilling and usually need to resort to a towel but the Kuddly is easier to use. If there are any messes, the Kuddly is easily laundered.

We are offering one lucky reader a chance to win their own custom-made Kitty Kuddly by simply leaving a comment at this post anytime until 11:59 PM EST August 30, 2012. Please mention the color/design you’d like to win from their website. The winner will be announced on August 31, 2012. Good luck!

  1. A lot of of what you claim is supprisingly appropriate and that makes me wonder the reason why I hadn’t looked at this in this light before. Your piece really did switch the light on for me as far as this topic goes. However at this time there is 1 factor I am not too cozy with and while I make an effort to reconcile that with the main idea of the point, allow me see what all the rest of the visitors have to point out.Nicely done.

  11. Kitties on pink is my favorite and my cats would so love this! We will be moving in about 16 months cross country and anything I can find that will help comfort our fur-babies would be so welcome.

  12. Such a good idea, I think we would like the flowers and butterflies but there are so many nice ones to choose from.

  13. I have some whiskered fur babes – each of whom I hope to eventually get a Kitty Kuddly for (would like each one to scent their own & get used to using it). Would love to have an orange tiger stripe one or a black and white giraffe print one if my name is drawn for the giveaway. (It’s kind of a jungle at my place with them, so wild life prints seem appropriate for them.)

  14. Oh that looks so cozy!

  15. My Ellie would look lovely in a Yellow Zebra pattern Kuddly. These are lovely and I am thinking of getting one as a gift for my friend’s cat too!

  16. Very Clever! This would be wonderful for my nervous Mewmew! The Kitties On Pink is super adorable!!

  17. Wow, these are a great idea. And that they come in so many different great fabric choices. I think my little Forest Cat would love to snuggle in a Yellow Zebra kuddly. Thanks for the chance to win one of these fun and calming bags.

  18. We think this is what Mics Moo needs! She is so nervous she has removed her eyebrows again. The mom thinks the “Sheep on Blue” would be purrfect. Thanks, Layla!

  19. I would like to win the kitties on pink design. My little Ember will love it because she is so cuddly too 🙂

  20. We would love to win our own custom-made Kitty Kuddly in the light camo design. That way when we have to pill the cats they might not see us coming!

  21. Having rescued many unwanted kittens through the years, the ones who stayed with us are the ones too sick to get homes. We would love to try out a Kitty Kuddley because most of our fur babies need medication of one kind or another. Any design would be great I like the “more flowers” the best.

  22. These look so warm & cuddly! We would love one…our favorite patterns are Frogs & Mushrooms and Green & Brown Squares! Thanks!

  23. My Harley hates the carrier, but maybe the Cammo Skulls, Argyle, or Geo Squares might help him calm down. (PS I never thought of using Feliway in his carrier till you mentioned Feliway above. We use it the stop the cats from spraying.)

  24. I love this idea. My 2 year old is afraid of the world and this seems like it will make vet visits so much easier for both of us. I like the camo skulls!

  25. I liked lots of your fabric choices! I think my favorite is the “Cartoon Shapes” one, in the Kitty Kudley design please. I can see getting the cat into the carrier being a lot easier with one of these. I’d love to try it out. Thanks!

  26. These are absolutely gorgeous!!! My ‘kids’ er. . . I mean kitties (LOL) would love the ‘Kitties on Pink’ design or the Tiger design shown above. Love, prayers, kitty kisses and head bonks for all. God bless you in all you do for the anipals.

  27. My kitties would love this bag. They would both look adorable in the “kitties in pink” pattern. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the contest.

  28. I’m having a very hard time deciding between Color Squares and Bubbles on Blue! This would be SO helpful because I have one foster who has to go to the vet every other week for shots, and one of my cats has to go every four weeks for shots – so there is always someone going to the vet, it seems! This is a fabulous idea, which goes one step further to support a great cause!

  29. What a great idea – One of these would certainly make vet visits easier for my wiggle worms!

  30. DO these have air-conditioning? With this hot weather, my three would love it! P.S. Their owner wonders if they are made man-sized! He could use one, too!

  31. i have a kitty that freaks every time I try to put him in a carrier. Had to leave him home yesterday for an adoption event. I would love to have the leopard one but, the kitties on pink would do just as well. Thank you, I hope I win!!!

  32. We too luv the tiger one but guess it might be the zebra which would be cool too. This is a really neat idea.Congrats to all the winners! Luvs Skeeter and Izzy >^..^<

  33. Thank you for such a great give-away! I think those are a fabulous idea and would be purrfect for winter vet trips!

I asked Cody and he said if he wins he would love the purple tie dyed one please.

    Have a great day!
    Love, Cody and “Mom”

  34. I’m a winner!! Thanks very much Layla 🙂

I couldn’t leave a comment at all on yesterday’s post, so am glad glitch has been removed xx

  35. I honestly SQEE’d when I saw the camo skulls Kitty Kuddly! My Freya would look so fabulous with all her fluff spilling out!

  36. My cats would just love this. They said they’d like the Kitties on Pink one!

  37. These are wonderful! Having had cats who needed to be pilled on a regular basis due to chronic illness, I’m very interested in this product. I like the tiger print shown above, but didn’t see a pattern with that name on their site. Maybe it’s the Yellow Zebra?
