This Cat Will Not Go Gently Into The Night
Mondays With Merlin By Merlin Wilde
The photo quote is from the poem “Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night” by Dylan Thomas which explores the helplessness associated with growing old and creeping toward death. “Old age should burn and rave at the close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light” . The dying light is about darkness, a metaphor for dying. I say Rage on! Screw moving towards death in a namby pamby, dare I say, pussy way? Let’s not be resigned pussies and but let’s fight our best fight, going out in a yeowling blaze of glory. Burn baby burn, with life, while we can.
I’ve been yeowling more and even enjoying the heat wave because some of us like it hot. And don’t you dare say I look like a geriatric Grumpy Cat!
I’d sing this for you if I could but John Cale does a better job.
One more thing, dear cat lover friends. I’d appreciate your vote! Pettie Award voting link

To our friend Merlin, one of mom’s favorite quotes:
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”
~ Hunter S. Thompson

We’ll second that, thanks!

Fight the good fight as long as you can, sweet friends.
If you have to go, you’ll be in our hearts forever.
But, please stay strong and rage against the dying of the light.

A little Grumpy Cat, and it’s a bit cooler but still humid. The rains are on the way.

I would like to hear version of the song too :o) You’re right this heat is hard to bear.

I was worried about Merlin, from the title. That heat wave was brutal. All creatures are happy now that it’s over.
I hope Merlin continues to enjoy his time here. I think he has a long time!
Layla Morgan Wilde
Merlin is hanging in there and managed the heat better than me. From your lips to Bast’s ear that you’re right.
