Shelter Volunteer: Happiest Happy Tails

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

I always open the door to the shelter NEWROCHELLEHUMANESOCIETY.org with equal parts, hope, excitement and worry. Who got adopted. Who isn’t feeling well. Who is in the mood for cuddles or bullying and a million other possibilities.

Today we have the HAPPIEST Happy Tails ending. Remember Ivan? ADOPTED! What a long journey to find his forever home.

Ivan the terrific cat ready to be adopted

It’s the cats from a horrific hoarding situation that brought me on board, so it’s always a thrill when when of those cats gets adopted. The latest one is a tiny Tuxie named Sweetpea. She’s a perfect example of true grit and charm. She graduated from a filthy cage to a clean shelter cage, a small back room to the big cage-free adoption area. I must say, she isn’t the prettiest cat in the world but she knows how to work it. She could charm anyone and she did, straight into a forever home.

Our poster boy from yesterday’s post about the Virgo cat, Sandy, got lucky too. I was going to feature him BUT…

Of course I was hoping Gilbert another tabby, I’d been trying so hard to get him adopted but no. My plan was to take him home to foster but when I saw his runny eye, I couldn’t risk it. He’d had a shot of antibiotics, looked thin and cranky. He bounced down from his cage but the spring in his step was gone. We played and hung out a bit but I felt I’d let him down. This is his adoption PSA almost 2 months ago.

#AdorableAdoptable Gilbert

I’m hoping Sandy’s tabby luck might rub off on Gilbert and today’s feature a tabby named Kat. She’s young, spayed and lovely in every way. An elegant and athletic jumper and a climber, I’d suggest a home with lots of places to climb and perch. She’s friendly with other cats, curious, playful and pretty darn fabulous. Please share, crosspost any or all of the adoption PSAs.

We came from a hoarding situation too and were rescued by the RSPCA along with around 100 other cats. We were lucky as Mum had just lost her elderly cat (almost 20 years!) and called at there and chose us to live with her and we each gave her 4 paws up.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

I’ve just learned about these kitties who came to the rescue from that awful situation and I’m floored! I had no idea there were awful, sick humans who would do such a thing as take in lots of kitties and then not care for them properly. I am purring lots for the ones that still need homes.
