Odin loves the great outdoors but also loves flea and tick protection.

Before prepping for this post, during a routine grooming including a swipe with a flea comb on Domino, I got a nasty surprise. The last thing I expected was to see was a flea but I caught one and groaned, “Oh no, not already!” It was such a cold winter with lots of snow, we’d stopped our usual flea/tick treatment for three months. But spring is here and so are the fleas and ticks. Needless to say, we’re back on a monthly treatment regimen Pet Armor Plus and in the nick of time. Prevention is always easier than treating and I had to learn that the hard way. After using a product that didn’t work, it was no fun getting rid of fleas in a big three-story house. Besides the ick factor, fleas and ticks transmit dieases to both pets and humans like Lyme disease. My biggest concern is fleas can cause tapeworm and for every flea you see, there are about 100 lurking unseen.

Did you know: Ticks can live 200 days without food or water and fleas up to 100 days without a bite?

Thankfully we’re having a giveaway for a three month supply of Pet Armor Plus. Scroll down to enter the giveaway.

We have three indoor/outdoor cats and one indoor only foster cat but it doesn’t matter: even indoor only cats can and do get fleas and sometimes ticks. We have a big garden and I love hiking but always do a tick check when I get home. I’ve brought home ticks numerous times on my clothes and it doesn’t take long for the buggers to attach to skin. Ew!

It is important since my dog has an allergy to fleas I have never heard of this before she had a reaction one year so thats why it is important to keep my pets healthy and happy

I love that it is waterproof and breaks the flea life cycle by killing flea eggs and larvae for up to 12 weeks and kills ticks that may transmit Lyme disease and since my dog loves being outside too much this is wonderful.

Yup, flea & tick season will be upon us very soon. Still have a couple feet of snow still though. Can’t believe it’s April and we still have so much snow. MO– — — USES!

I have had a winter break from my flea treatments but you have reminded mum that I need to start again. I get Frontlined on the first of every month starting in March or April so we are late this year.

We were surprised to see we had to enter our names/email/website info.
Flea control is awful. I did the same thing as you. I had stopped during the winter months and less than a month ago Annabelle began scratching. She is allergic to flea bites and I immediately put on her flea treatment and the scratching stopped. Thank goodness it is that simple.

Spring is here and tick/flea treatment is very important. We started using diatomaceous earth for our boys last year. Maybe it’s okay during winter but I wonder how effective it is in this season.

Mum always starts scratching when anyone mentions fleas!! We go outside but only in the garden or up on the roof and although we’ve never had anything that’s bitten us Mum gives us flea and worm treatment every 3 months to make sure we stay pest free.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

My human found a flea on me once when I was getting a bath! It probably came from one of my outside excursions – of course she caught it when it ran to my face to avoid the water.
