How You Can Help Pets and People Impacted By Wildfires
How You Can Help Pets and People Impacted By Wildfires by Layla Morgan Wilde
Wildfires are burning out of control in many parts of the world, but here are 9 easy ways you can help in the U.S.
One of my favorite @blackcatsofig community members @kimi.the.adventure.cat created a series of useful and shareable graphics. What’s most remarkable is that not only are they directly impacted but they were displaced from their Bay area home 5 months ago. Kimi, the black cat, a fursib cat, two dogs and their pet parents Akane and Fonzo have been living in a motel room since a car hit their home and the gas line. They were forced to evacuate and then their home was burglarized. They are chefs and unemployed since Covid. There is a GoFundMe (see the link in the bio of their Instagram @kimi.the.adventure.cat).
Life in a cramped motel room got worse because of the poor air quality is limiting their time outdoors. This pet family story is one of thousands. We all know what big hearts pet lovers have, please do what you can to ease the suffering. Pick one one out of the 9 and it will make a big difference. Thanks and here’s a video “Motel Life” of Kimi and her fursibs. In many ways, they are lucky compared those who have lost their homes and all their belongings, but there are many levels of misery.

This is so helpful and important. Thank you for sharing these, Layla. It’s easy just to feel hopeless and not feel like there’s anything we can do from afar. It’s good to know there are actionable items that will help make a difference. XO

The fires are heart breaking for all affected by them, especially those who have lost home and pets. So much wildlife has perished too. I will follow your links and decide which one I will donate to.

That is an excellent resource Layla. Those fires are so scary and it sure makes the heart ache with all those people are going through dealing with this. Thanks to all the firefighters, they are such heroes.

Layla,
You are amazing! Thank you so much for sharing this and helping bring awareness to the devastation of these fires. Also, for including our story in here for people to read as well. We appreciate the continued support, and could not get through these tough times without it.

Fire and water are two of the most devastating entities that there are. We send purrs and prayers out across the world to all that are impacted. It is even more heartbreaking to learn how many of these fires have been intentionally set.
Thank you for the wonderful info for places to donate.

I’ve often thought which is worse fires or flooding and got no answer. All of the elements can wreck life as we know it and deserves to be respected. Hope you and your gang are well xo
