This post is dedicated Radish, a dear but very ill rescue cat who sadly passed away last week. We enjoyed a brief but special connection. This how I'll always remember him: free, loved and finally out of a shelter cage.

This Hills Crafted image from the HillsPet website reminded me so much of when I was a little girl. I loved puttering, creating, cooking and of course cats. From the age of three, cats were my special friends. We spoke the same language and still do. Some things never change. I’m still a messy cook and I still love cats. If I could I would cook the purrfect cat food one batch at a time, but I’m an adult now with more practical concerns. The most loving thing I can do is leave the “cooking” to the experts. Radish’s story was heart warming and heart breaking at the same time. I’m so glad he knew love and care that you so richly lavished on him. I wish he had had years more to enjoy it. I wish the shelter had vetted him – but I’m glad he didn’t die alone in a cage or get euthed – he was able to live his life to the fullest and leave on his own terms. run with the wind Radish.

I’ve heard great stuff about this food – my little horde would love to try it out.

I’d like to believe that the time Radish was with you he got to know the most important things about humans. He got to feel the love and the comforts of home. He was present every moment and he gave you back something too which will always be his special gift to you. I believe cats see time much differently than we do, so it isn’t the amount of time it’s what happened during that time that is important. I know it will take a long time for you to heal and we’re keeping you in our purrs.

I was going to say “rest in peace, Radish”. But I really want to say, run like the wind, Radish, chase moonbeams, hunt and pounce like a kitten… then have the most cosy naps with the very sweetest dreams.

Yes, kids and cats are perfect – purrfect together – I knew cats were almost the same as people – basically, cats are people – when I was five. My parents disagreed, but they were from a different generation.
