Caturday “Over” & Cat of The Year
The Saturday Photohunt theme this week is “over” and ours is over the rainbow in thanks to those who rescue cats. We have a soft spot for senior kitties like Gris Gris, our Adopt-a-Senior Cat poster boy. We’ve also over the moon about one special cat named Koshka, Russian word for cat.
An inspiring group of people and animals were honored this week at the 2013 ASPCA Humane Awards Luncheon in New York City. The ASPCA Cat of the Year is Koshka
Koshka was just another a stray cat in Afghanistan when fate stepped in. She struck up a friendship with cat lover Staff Sgt. Jesse Knott at an army base. Koshka reminded Jesse of life back home in Oregon. Koshka helped her American friend deal with the hardships of war. When it was time for Jesse to return home, he couldn’t abandon his feline friend. Jesse’s parents’ helped bring Koshka to Oregon where she now happily lives. One cat and one human can equal much gratitude in this time of thanksgiving.

In our home, it was a thankfully a good week without incident. How about you? What are you most grateful for this weekend?

We are thankful that we have each other, our families, our friends. We are thankful for all those wonderful souls, both animal and human, that have touched our lives and are now Over the Bridge waiting for us to join them. We are thankful that we can help another in need be they animal or human. We are thankful that there are forces in this universe that look out for us and give us what we need when we need it. We are thankful that we are alive and know that there are wonderful people out there doing wonderful things for all beings everywhere. We are thankful.

I’m thankful that I can see the wonderful, kind-hearted man that my son is growing into through all the teen-age angst at surrounds him like a fog. I’m also thankful that I’m way passed those years.
