Too Many Cat Holidays? The October Favorites

Is it just me or does it seems like there are too many new pet holidays? October or as I prefer to call it Black Cat Awareness Month is coming to a close but yesterday was Black Cat Day which I promoted elsewhere but not at this blog.
When I see the date October 27, the first thing I think of is my mother’s birthday. She died on her birthday 5 years ago and in her honor, I’m sharing a tribute post. It’s been edited with an added photo made more meaningful by my visit to her place of birth, Helsinki recently.
A Personal Tribute to My Mom an Amazing Cat Lady
It’s a bittersweet week with cat holidays mixed with family holidays including my wedding anniversary on October 28. I can’t believe a free spirit like me who dated a lot has been married 21 years. It’s shocking how young we look and no photoshop but I’m feeling painfully mortal.
October is Pet Wellness Month. October 12 marks Pet Obesity Day. October 16 used to be Feral Cat Day which I adored until it changed to Global Cat Day.
A new one this year is CATober 9 for adopted cats who don’t know their birthday. It’s declared by the North Shore Animal League. I have no issues with a shelter creating a holiday but I draw the line at for-profit brands creating a holiday just to promote themselves.
The most popular cat holiday in October is probably National Cat Day on October 29 but who are we kidding, October is all about Halloween.

Happy Anniversary to you guys!!!!! Just remember age IS a BEAUTIFUL thing! Embrace it, hug it, squeeze it and take all it has to offer! Do the CAT THANG!!! NO WORRIES!!!
It doesn’t seem possible that it has been 5 years since your Mom passed…..hugs,purrs and kitty kisses for that.
We will celebrate CAT no matter the day……………every day is the DAY OF THE CAT!!!!

Memories of Eric and Flynn
That is a beautiful anniversary photo, happy anniversary. We celebrated our anniversary on a cruise and got back yesterday. On 23rd of October we were married 51 years ago. With my multitude of health problems we were very grateful to have been able to celebrate it and it is all thanks to the wonderful care I get from Ivor.

As with most “special” days, for the cat days I chose to celebrate those that have meaning to me. And I appreciate Black Cats all the time!
I send you hugs for your Mom and Happy Anniversary! Layla, I am sorry if I have missed your posts, I don’t “do” any social media except the Cat’s blog and the occasional Facebook post for the blog and I have not even been posting on either since last spring. My son and I have been doing much needed renos to the house. I still have loads to do, but I prefer to crawl around on the floor painting baseboards when the weather is warmer, so that will be put off until next summer (as will be completing the painting in the kitchen). So Marv (and I) will try to keep a regular blogging schedule for at least the next 6 months). Marv is not as demanding as Nellie Bellie was.
