Remembering Two Gray Cats on Remember Me Thursday
[Tweet “The world will be lighting candles to help orphan pets on Sep. 25. Join us & light up the world at www.remembermethursday.org. #cats @catwisdom101”]
Remember Me Thursday™ is a day to remember the millions of orphan pets who lost their lives through no fault of their own before they found a family by lighting a virtual candle or attending a Remember Me Thursday candle ceremony. By lighting a candle on Thursday, September 25, 2014, we are honoring those lost pets and bringing awareness to the pets in need of forever homes.
Today is the day! Light a Remember Me Thursday™ candle now!
We’re dedicating this day and a candle to two gray boys: Our cat Gris Gris and Gray Boy. One cat found a home late in his life and the other never knew a real home.
Gris Gris lived 10 years as a basement mouser, one year at a shelter and three happy years in our home before dying at age 15 last December.
Gray Boy lived an unknown time caged in a horrific hoarding situation before being rescued In May, 2014 by the New Rochelle. He lived in a cage a the shelter until he died in July before the opportunity to be adopted. He was about 8 years old. He is the inspiration and muse for my shelter volunteer adoption feature every Wednesday.
NO MATTER WHERE in the world YOU LIVE YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN REMEMBER ME THURSDAY
Let’s shine the light of awareness. Please share this post and spread the word about Remember Me Thursday on Facebook, Twitter and other social media channels. Remember to use the hashtag #LIGHTFORPETS on Twitter or Facebook to share your thoughts and feelings about the importance of pet adoption.
AND Petfinder.com has designated this week as Adopt A Less Adoptable Pet Week. Visit Petfinder for more surprising details.
I’d better not tell my cats because they include old, blind, different, one-eyed and FIV but I prefer no labels or maybe just purrfect.

We lit a candle in remembrance for all our feline, canine, and bunny fur babes at the Bridge- all were rescues and THE BEST! My current three are rescues too, 2 special needs cats and one woofie who one of the cats along with Angel Ms. Phoebe and Angel Ćerny helped raise from a 3 month old pup. Rescue of the ‘less desirables’ will always be my choice as I was fortunate enough not to be abandoned when born as a less then desirable human kit. My parents raised me as nothing less than desired alondside my ‘normal’ siblings, allowing me to see my own fur kids as no different than any other.

Lovely reminder Layla..we lit a candle too..for all those that i saw come through the shelter..unloved..unwanted and yet filled with love like every other sentient being…and for those that never even make it to a shelter..who roam or fend for themselves daily and end their days alone…always have a place in our hearts..Love Fozziemumxx

The cats who end up at the shelter, stray, owner released, abandoned, and live out their lives without ever finding a loving home… it’s just heart wrenching.
So many people convince themselves, when they surrender their cats, that they’ll find a new home in no time.

We lit a candle. It’s an impawtant information to keep in mind every day ! Purrs

We remember every single day and light a candle in our heart for every little soul in this world. No creature deserves to be treated cruelly, neglected, abused, tortured, starved, thrown away or forgotten. We remember always.

We shall remember the poor souls every single day.
p.s. All pets are adoptable, we just need better and brighter humans.

Totally agree. We blogged about this on our Thankful Thursday Post.

We’re sending purrs and thoughts to them all as we sit here with three gray cats who were lucky enough to be saved by Tree House and ended up in a safe foster home. We hope one day all cats have the same fortune. – Crepes and Alana.

I will remember the gray cats and all the nameless animals today. I lighted a candle and I hope for a world where no one will be homeless and alone…

What a beautiful graphic and post, Layla. I actually tied together Remember Me Thursday and Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week in my post today too…I think they belong together!

Thank you Layla. We are remembering and have a candle lit at this very moment. You are such a wonderful person and admire everything you do for cats.

It is so sad.
We got our boys via Petfinder, in 2002, from a no-kill shelter in MA.
Sammy
We lit a candle……and pray that more animals can know the love of finding a family to treat them with kindness. We’re thankful every day that we adopted our Sammy.

I am blogging about this today too… and the funny thing is, I lit a virtual candle not long after you did. Only when I was uploading photos to my blog did I realize that your candle was on the same row as mine.
