Monday Surprise Chez Cat Wisdom 101

Whether you have two cats or ten, there is always something happening. Today we have a Monday surprise. If anything changes in the household, cats not only notice, they respond towards the other cat, pets, or humans. We’ve gone through a difficult year of illness, death and unusual levels of stress. When Merlin, our feline patriarch died everyone grieved for months. That was before I arrived and my arrival was a big adjustment for all. I needed more attention and by Jove, I got it. But then Nou Nou needed extra vet care (ongoing), Layla got pneumonia on top of other issues including DSPS leaving her energy in fumes. Domino is daddy’s boy and has his undivided attention but Odin was left out of the loop. Honestly, I can’t imagine how anyone can provide, love, care and attention to more than a few cats. Maybe when all is well but one major life event or illness can turn life upside down.
Odin has accepted me but still feeling mopey about Layla spending most of her time with me.
Odin goes nuts for any package delivered. Of course he thinks they have his name on them.
Well, this one did but it was for ALL of us cats. We’d won a contest from our dear friends Two Spoiled Cats. I’m the new kitty on the block but Merlin and Sammy go way back. In fact, they are chummier than ever enjoying adventures in the great beyond.
Domino was outdoors and missed the pawty. That meant more treats for us!
Odin loves Greenies dental treats but I confess to never tasting them.
You must know I’m not overly gaga about treats or catnip but have grown fond of an old ‘nip nana. The Greenies aroma had me swooning. I could have eaten the whole bag but I’m diabetic and not allowed high carb treats, but one or two is okay. On occasion like this one, he, he, he…
I also found the CATbaret and MusCat catnip quite intoxicating.
Being a polite, older gentleman I didn’t do anything foolish like rolling around delirious but I did share some goodies with Nou Nou.
Nou Nou has been more playful lately which is a very good thing. She’s always been besotted with Odin but he’s been shall we say hit or miss. He’s like the fellow who says he’ll call or text but doesn’t. Maybe because of her illness or less attention from Layla, he’s playing with her and even shared a heating pad with her.
After a long inter-active play session with Layla, Nou Nou and Odin curled up together and surprise surprise, Odin gave her a through tongue bath. You could hear her ecstatic purrs a mile away!
We are grateful for good friends and I’m ecstatic when I have a good day which is most days. Have a good week everyone and hopefully a good Monday Surprise.

Sounds like a good week. It is nice seeing Odin and Nou Nou enjoying each other’s company. It is really tough when an illness rears it’s head. It throws things totally out of whack for animals or humans.
Love your winnings and it sounds like like the cats did too. It is good to see Odin excited!

Life has a balance fur sure but it has the flexibility to bend and change when necessary. Cats aren’t fans of change but they can and will adapt when needed hence the survival rate of those tossed out like garbage. They can and do comfort each other when the humans can’t or won’t.
We hopes and purrs and prays that everyone at your place gets feeling much better very soon so life can mellow back out again.

It’s true how cats do adjust. Clyde is a good example of being surrendered to a shelter at age 16 and adjusted well to his new home.

OMG, DSPS. I wish you well with that. I don’t know if I have DSPS, but I’ve always been a bad sleeper – not able to fall asleep, then I wake up tired and need naps.
I’ve been meditating in the morning or afternoon and again at night for many years, and that seems to help with my ability to fall asleep and to stay asleep and feel rested after. i usually fall asleep after meditating.
Today I’m very busy with a teleconference this afternoon, so I won’t be able to meditate until about dinner time.
Aw, yes, catnip much better than lobster. Emma Peel, RIP 1972-1992, only played with the lobster. Ackshully, she stared in horror at the creature that tried to scuttle across the floor.
Our boyz Cheddar and Mao wuvs catnip. It’s the only thing that causes an all-out ghetto war. Mao hoards the nip, Ched starts to invade Mao’s territory by taking a sniff, Mao bears his claws and attacks Ched on the face, Ched retreats and whines, then sneaks some nip when Mao isn’t watching.
