Meet Meowvelous Molly & New Rochelle Humane Society Gala
Our New Rochelle Humane Society shelter volunteer spotlight has a big bright spot this week. Zelda, a sweet, older torbie gal we featured back in June, who went from a cage to a foster home 10 weeks ago has found her forever home! This shows the power of foster love. It can help the shy ones over the hump to adoptability, even from extreme cases like hoarding. Love and patience can surmount the greatest odds.
UPDATE after my shelter visit today. Molly was moved to the larger caged room. She seems depressed. Best news: Gilbert was ADOPTED!
Our spotlight this this week is Molly who arrived at the shelter in March and remains in a cage in the smallest, windowless room of the shelter. Hers is an all too common story of life in happy home until it isn’t. Illness forced her owner into a nursing home and Molly lost her mom, her home, her sister and life as she knew it. All things considered, this gorgeous torbie mix is sad but resilient and has not given up hope. Unlike many of the caged cats, she’s not afraid to jump from her high top tier cage. I’ll place a step stool for her to make it easier and she’s quite the acrobat leaping from the top step back into her cage. She loves to stretch her long frame as high as she can go and doesn’t mind being held and carried. She’s a lovely girl who with no issues. She just needs a home.
Visit The New Rochelle Humane Society is open 7 days a week. Most days 10am-4pm including Saturdays and Sundays. Thursday is our late night when we are open 2-8pm. Adoption donation includes the spay or neuter, vaccines up to date, microchip and worming. All cats and kittens are tested for Felv & FIV. No appointment needed. Have a question? Call the friendly front desk during office hours at 914.632.2925

Paws crossed that the event is a huge success. And we are praying for Molly — what a difficulty adjustment being at a sheter is.

Stories like Mollie’s really tug at the heart strings. It must be so confusing for her to lose everyone and everything she has known and loved. I hope her adoption comes very quickly and I hope the Gala is a huge success. That is great news for Zelda.
