Litter Getter- litter box solution-attractant

Using a cat litter box is the most natural thing in the world for cats, until it isn’t. The #1 cat behavioral problem concerns using the litter box. Nothing is more frustrating for pet parents when their cat refuses to use their litter box. If a medical cause is ruled out, the new herbal attractant Litter Getter is a natural solution to attract a cat to use their litter box.

Litter Getter can be used with any kind of kitty litter to help litter box train kittens but we were interested in testing it with adult cats. Normally we use an unscented litter and have no litter box issues except for Merlin. He’s 18 years old and blind and sometimes it takes him awhile to find the box. He still enjoys walks in the garden with me where he can do his business naturally. I was curious to see if an herbal litter attractant would help him find his litter box more easily. We received a 20 oz. container from the makers of Litter Getter to try.

The fresh natural scent reminded me of freshly mown hay and invited a deeper whiff. It contains a mixture of herbs mixed with soy oil, mixed tocopherols, rosemary extract, citric acid the botanical Yacca Schidigera which neutralizes the odor of ammonia.

I found the instructions more complicated than necessary. What I would recommend is simply sprinkling about 1 oz. on top of clean litter and take your litter scoop to rake it into the litter. I placed two identical NVR Miss litter boxes side by side. One had the Litter Getter and other did not. There was an immediate winner. Odin dashed in and peed in the one with the Litter Getter. Merlin soon followed. The herbal scent when mixed into litter is subtle but pleasant. It beats the harsh chemical scent of most scented cat litters.

I like that Litter Getter is:

  • 100% natural
  • Biodegradable
  • Made in the U.S.
  • Safe for pets, children and the planet

If you are having litter box issues I recommend :

  • Have a vet rule out a medical cause
  • Make sure your litter boxes are large enough for your cat(s) to comfortably move around in.
  • Most cats prefer an uncovered box.
  • If you have multiple floors or multiple cats, have one cat per litter box located in different quiet/low-traffic areas or floors of the home.
  • Scoop all litter boxes daily. Clean thoroughly weekly.
