How To Tell a Cat Lover During The Holiday Season

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

This is how you can tell a cat lover during the holiday season. Just about everyone will send cards with cats on them. This is a display of some of our Christmas cards this year. I didn’t send snail mail cards this year and did a little video card instead but may reconsider next year. The joys of receiving real cards in real envelopes from real cat lovers is like holding love in your hands. We feel very blessed.

It would have been nice to have a real tree, but given Odin’s climbing prowess, we thought it wise not to tempt fate. I placed my favorite heirloom ornaments in a glass bowl that miraculously has remained untouched by you know who.

We have exchanged cards for several years now with fellow cat lovers but this year was the best. IT brought so much joy to open each card this year. WE will definitely be doing it again next year and we hope we add even more fellow cat lovers! *Pssst we need your address to add to our Christmas list for next year.

A very good idea re the heirlooms! Although Austin has left the tree alone the cards are another matter! I think he believes they’ve got it in for him lol

@Kathryn, every year it seems people send less cards but maybe there will be a change. I hope there is a trend towards recycled cards.

Our real tree is outside and we have a mini fibre optic tree inside (with a safety wire protecter over the cable).

Sorry we habn’t visited much in the last week or so, mom’s been busy.

Happy Christmas dear friends ~ and a joyful and healthy new year to you all. xx

I have had to seriously change how I manage Christmas with the cats – no more real tree and all the ornaments are shatterproof. Any of my collector items are either left, unpacked, in storage boxes, or I put breakables in my curio that has closed doors! I still manage to make the house festive and it’s just one of those things that need to be compromised when you have a house full of seven active cats!!

With cards however, it’s like the Kindle – much as I know how wonderful the technology is, I still am an old fashioned girl who likes to “touch and feel” the book I am reading! The same with cards – I really enjoy the electronic cards I get (yours was especially wonderful), but I just can’t give up the real thing!! I enjoy getting them myself and it’s just the last vestige of days gone by that I can’t part with!!

Happy Holidays to You and Yours!!

What a pretty assortment of cards!

Not surprisingly, most of our cards are cat cards, too. Every year I think I’m not going to continue to send a lot of snail mail cards. Then they start arriving in the mail, and I remember how much I love getting them, so I end up sending them out, too. In this electronic age, it still feels like something very special to get a “real” card – especially when it has cats on it!

Smart not to have a real tree. Our cats just knock a few ornaments off the bottom of the tree. Lovely, lovely ornaments. Snail mail cards are fun to give and receive, but this year and last I did not send any. I used to send about 30 and get about that many back but opted in recent years to send e-cards. Lovely menorah.

Merry Merry to you and yours!

    Kathryn
