Halloween Season Vintage Style Cat Day
I found and spruced up some fab vintage magazine covers and other cool cat art to celebrate Halloween Season Vintage Style Cat Day Halloween season has grown to records numbers. This year in the US., Halloween spending is expected to surpass a shocking 10 Billion on candy, decorations and costumes. Cats, especially black cats continue to be popular in decor imagery but not just at Halloween.
But before we dive in, let’s celebrate National and/or International Cat Day. I made this graphic to reflect the international appeal or passion for cats.
This is one of my all time favorite Halloween season magazine covers. Can you imagine it’s from 1895?
Halloween season is all about witches and cats. I love how playful and sweet this cover is from 1936.
It’s hard to believe but there was a Cats Magazine in 1955! This cover in poor shape needed a little makeover.
Long before Martha Stewart, there was Dennison’s, a popular manufacturer of paper products. They ruled party decor for 150 years and employed thousands at their factory in Framingham, Mass. Their heyday was the 20s to 50s with spectacular Halloween products and design ideas.
In 1990, Dennison merged with Avery, manufacturer of packaging tags and stickers.
This is a DIY example I fixed up for a black cat mask.
I wish they still manufactured the huge array products but most of the decor party magazines called Bogie Books are available on Amazon or for free at Archive.org.
It’s clear the past, present and future is feline. This is is my vintage inspired art available in six colors from my shop. It’s a bargain but I’ll be retiring it soon so shop now at Meow Magic
Stop by tomorrow for a special and a bit odd collection of Halloween ephemera.

I used to write for Cats magazine! I loved working with their staff. Of course I wasn’t writing for them way back in 1955, it was more like the ’80s or ’90s. Don’t remember when exactly. But it really did exist.

Cats DO rule everyday, but it’s wonderful to see through your post how ubiquitous they have been in culture through the years.!
