Caturday Oscar Fever +
After record-breaking cold weather this week, we’re in the mood for palm trees, red carpets and hot gold statuettes. Yup, it’s the Oscars this Sunday and while we can’t be in sunny Hollywood, one of our kitty friends Bagel the Sunglass Cat is.
And pet lovers do have their own version of the Oscars or Pawskers called the Nose-to-Nose Awards at Blogpaws in May.
Winning gold is nice but for shelter cats finding a forever home is the ultimate prize. Nou Nou our one-eyed foster kitty inspired this golden-eyed art work. I think she’s getting prettier every day and more confident. We’re joining the Saturday Art Blog Hop at our cat friends at Athena Cat Goddess.
On Thursday, the Chinese New Year of the Goat kicked of 15 days of festivities. Our cats say: Isn’t it the year of the cat every year? Merlin is our reluctant scapegoat. To make it more confusing, it’s also the year of the sheep.
In case you missed it, our Mancat Monday was brrrr frozen.
Our Shelter Volunteer spotlight featured Nou Nou’s sisters and an update on the spoiled princess.
If your cats are in the throes of kitty cabin fever or winter blahs, check out our 10 Tips including photos.
How are you staying warm and happy? Are you watching the Oscars? Any favorite films?

Just so the cats know, it is the year of the goat for the Vietnamese, but the year of the sheep for the Chinese. They will be purrfectly thrilled that the Vietnamese also have the year of the cat, while the Chinese celebrate the rabbit.
With that said, “the best therapist has four legs.”

Wonder Nou Nou art! The Chinese New Year came in very noisily at our condo. We had a prime seat to watch and listen to all the fireworks in NYC. TW said it was the most impressive show she’s seen. We don’t watch the Oscars or any awards’ show.

Lucky you seeing the fireworks!

Mom seems to go to the movies less and less every year so becomes less interested in the Oscars. I love your art!

Nou Nou is turning into a real show stopper herself!!

What a great idea. Millions are spent lobbying for the films. It’s snowing again and we’re snug as bugs in rugs.

This Sunday the choice is between the Oscars and the Daytona 500. So, while I really enjoy seeing all the awesome fashions and finery of the Red Carpet, movies aren’t really in my blood. NASCAR, on the other hand, speaks to a familial past of running shine in the family “stock” car on Friday night then driving the ladies to church Sunday morning. So, I’ll be curled up all Sunday afternoon into evening, yelling rude things at those in Fords and Toyotas while cheering my Hendrick Motorsports Team on to victory. With a lot of talent, an equal portion of luck and my unwavering attention, interspersed with occasional naps, the 24, 48, 88 and 5 will all finish in the top 10. Enjoy the Oscars! Hopefully we’ll both be pleased Monday morning with the outcomes we’ve absolutely no control over.

Ha, lots of fun either way. Enjoy!

The peeps never go to the movies so they don’t watch the Oscars. They like movies but they don’t like cell phone stuff while the movie is going on.
Layla Morgan Wilde (Cat Wisdom 101)
Good to know. There is a theatre near me that bars patrons caught using their cell during a film.

For someone who worked in the film industry for several years, my human is usually pretty uninterested in the Oscars.
