Caturday #ASPCA150, Adoptapalooza, Crazy Cat Lover Haircut +
Our Big Caturday NEWS #ASPCA150, Adoptapalooza, Crazy Cat Lover Haircuts and more!
On Sunday, April 10th, ASPCA will celebrate its 150th anniversary, and in honor of this important milestone, they are launching 150 Days of Rescue,
a nationwide action campaign that seeks to unite the country in making a difference in the lives of homeless and abused animals. Animal lovers are encouraged to visit ASPCA.org/150days and pledge their time between April 10 and September 7 to help animals in need, with the goal of reaching 150,000 actions for animals in 150 days. Ways to participate include volunteering at a local shelter, donating, fostering, adopting a shelter pet, etc.

We’re long time advocates of the many causes the ASPCA supports. They’ve come a long way in 150 years of helping animals but we have a long way to go. This vintage poster”the cat they left behind” is one of my favorites not only because it illustrates the kindness of an animal lover but because the message is as timely as ever. Every day people move and leave pets behind either in the vacated home or tossed on the street. There is never any excuse to abandon a pet. If you or anyone you know can no longer care for the animal, there is always an option of no-kill shelters or rescue groups. Find the closest one near you by entering a zipcode at Petfinder.com
Animal lovers who log their good deed will also be given the opportunity to nominate their favorite animal shelter to receive a grant prize of $150,000! Enter now at ASPCA.org/150days
If you’re in the NYC area and think it might be time to adopt a new furry family members, The Mayor’s Alliance (an umbrella group of over 150 rescue groups and shelters) is having a mega adoption event Adoptapalooza on Sunday, April 10 in Union Square Park, along with a parade on Broadway, plus an additional adoption event at House of Vans in Brooklyn. Adoption fees will be covered by Animal Planet!
In addition to meeting adoptable pets from dozens of rescue groups, other activities include advice on pet care, training, and grooming; product giveaways; low-cost microchipping; dog licensing; pet photographers; dog performances; or other fun activities for the whole family.
Caturday wouldn’t be Caturday without a dose of kitty cuteness or wonderful weirdness. Our pick is purrfectly colorful haircut by Aliya Askarova, a creative hairdresser in St. Petersberg, Russia who designed the colorful cut for a customer. I won’t say crazy cat lady because I could see a crazy cat dude sporting it too. Would you dare to wear it?
If you missed our Merlin’s final book review about Homer the blind cat, catch up now and we’d appreciate your opinion/survey about our book reviews continuing or not.
Think cats can’t get Lyme disease? They not only can and this is what you need to know to keep your cats safe. Read, bookmark and share My Cat Had Lyme Disease.
Have a safe and happy Caturday wherever in the world you are!

Hooray Hooray for the ASPCA!!!!! We are so excited about all of the wonderful adoption events etc. that are going on. We are so very thankful for all of the great programs, shelters, and people that have joined the movement to make this world a better place for those that have no voice. Helping the animals also leads to helping our whole society.
We have been so concerned about all of the animals out there that have given birth and are trying to deal with this horrible cold and wind that we keep having.
We purr, we pray and we try to do all we can to help and again we always ask for blessings on all that do help.
WE LOVE THE HAIRCUT!!!!!! So super cute!!!!
