Merlin, here sporting a faux pair of aviators in celebration of more daylight. I’ve been enjoying the sunny days and walks despite my lack of vision. I bump into everything to scent mark and or braille scent objects, as I call it. Don’t feel sorry for me, there are completely blind cats who manage just fine. I enjoyed my vision and my beautiful big eyes. I don’t live in regret or remorse. What is is.

Did you know cats have the largest eyes of all domestic animals relative to their body size? We have the biggest pupils as well, allowing us to see six times better than you humans. Those big pupils are why cats don’t need sunglasses. Have you noticed when cats emerge into bright sunlight they blink and instantly the large pupils narrow to a sliver in the sunlight? Anyway, in bright sunlight we often prefer to close our eyes and enjoy the warmth of the sun to just be. Today is an unusually warm sunny day and I’m going to enjoy it with my man cat brothers. How about you?

Only eight more days to nominate us for a Readers Choice Award from About.com. Thanks for all your support! We are one of the leaders! The nomination form is here
