Sunshine is in the Cards Says Merlin The Tarot Reader Cat
Oh my catness, Sunshine is in the Cards says Merlin the tarot reader cat.
That would me. I’ve dabbled in tarot over the years on my blog and Layla has read tarot for longer than I’ve been alive and I’m 21.5. We thought it would be useful and healing in these tumultuous times to do a regular tarot feature. The cards are wonderfully insightful when life feels topsy turvey.
Have questions???? We’re doing free weekly readings on Instagram. Follow us, leave one question in a comment under my Magical Merlin Tarot image and tag a friend. If you don’t see the image, just leave a comment under any image but include the #catwisdom101 hashtag so I can find it. What are you waiting for? The Future is meow. This offer won’t be free for long.
Sunshine is in the cards! The cards don’t lie but I may be fibbing. You know cats can be crafty critters and not averse to some truth-stretching for our amusement. After knocking over something and making a mess, humans wll point and ask a cat, “Did you do this?”
All cats know how to widen their eyes in disbelief — the universal reply, “Moi? Oh no, not me!” If you’re smiling it’s because you know it’s true. Glad to be the purrrveyor of smiles and sunshine but it’s only partially true.
It’s been a wretched week of rain and beastly chill preventing me from my last joy: sunbathing in the garden.
When I say I live for it, I’m not speaking in metaphors. I LOVE the sun-warmed earth under my ancient body. It’s better than any catnip and my necessary fix. In the wheel of life, I took a nasty downward turn making Layla turn on the Buddhist prayers and hospice care was ramped up. My usual ravenous appetite waned and spluttered but returned via a masterful concoction via syringe. Gabapentin dose upped and I feel comfortable for now.
Now is all we ever have.
These are stressful times for many of us and cats are the ultimate psychic sponges to mop up the excess ick. Do yourself and your cats a favor and do self-care. Take a yoga class, see a funny movie, call an old friend, whatever it takes. Everyone can use a moment of Zen.
Finally, the weather gods stopped the punishing rain and deadly orgone energy. Call it what you like but it’s when you feel like a black cloud is sucking all the goodness out, leaving you drained, frustrated or angry and plain crappy. Yesterday the temperatures crept up to 70 and the sun, the glorious sun that I worship came out. We sat out on a blankie and read tarot, soaked up crystal and earth energy and the life force seeped back into my 100 year-old bones. If I were a human I’d be using a walker or at least a cane for support.
So what was in the cards for me this week? A simple three card spread of the past, present and future showed the lovers and two cards with swords. The lovers and Justice are from the Major Arcana which always adds a certain gravitas. In the past is the lovers which is seldom about lovers but choices and commitment. It’s about not sitting on the fence but making hard choices. And everyone in my home has done that including me. There was a conscious choice to continue with hospice care after much dithering and we’re all on the same page.
The Knight of Sword is a court card and the often indicate people, in this case a sharp-witted, quick-thinking young man, an air sign in astrology Gemini, Libra or Aquarius. I am a Libra but I’m a king not a knight so the interpretation is about the swords. Swords in this case is about fast news and information via the Internet. It’s social media, gossip, email, messages to me or Layla and some might concern me but I suspect some other news that isn’t honey-coated and may smart like nicks from a blade.
The final card, the future is Justice. She’s a fair but sharp cookie. There is no wriggling away from destiny. What goes around comes around in a karmic cause and effect and it can mean actual legal stuff like contracts which applies to my pawrents but not me. For me, it’s facing a situation I’m aware of and for better or worse, it will be fair and just.
That’s it for this week. I hope to see you here next week or sooner on Instagram. And remember, if things have been extra wackadoo lately, take heart, not only is Mercury in Retrograde but four other planets in a rare phenomena. Understanding what’s going on and how to cope is useful. Find out at Five Planets In Retrograde. It’s not all techie issues or delays. Weird good stuff can happen too. Who would have thought one of our cat mom cards would go viral of Facebook? I shared it at the CWA page and it’s been shared over 18,000 times reaching over a million cat lovers. That makes me happy. It would make me happier if a fraction of those people would find us but there is no direct link. Oh well. C’est la vie.

Sometimes Cats Herd You
We don’t know how how we missed this in our feed on Monday… bad Feedly! It’s so good to see you out enjoying the sunshine, Merlin. You’re such an inspiration to the rest of us younger kitties!

Let that sun shine! You are always wise and it is wonderful seeing your picture Merlin. Oh how you remind me of my old meezer……. he also loved the sunshine. It is nice to soak up those rays and warm old cat bones.
I dont know much about tarot stuff. I mean nothing. Call it ignorance, but, it sounds intriguing and if it brings comfort it is a good thing. May all your cards be good ones.
I went to a cat sanctuary today (I have to tell someone) and you should have seen all the cats! It is a place called C&W Rustic Hollow. Last year I entered contest by writing an essay about them, and they were awarded 20K. I called is 20,000 kitty kisses. Anyway, they are a place where cats go who have no one kind human who cant keep them all their lives for whatever reason. You should see their place! They have nice catios, they watch movies, lay in bed, and follow the visitors and people who serve them around, The cats there are all special. Gosh every color of the rainbow was there! They stay until they go across the Bridge, and are all loved. I could go on and on, but I know Layla is reading this to you, but just imagine a really cool place where like 300+ cats hang out in different cottages and you get the jist of it.
I am gonna go over and visit you on instagram. Here’s hoping for more sunshine, more pets and sending you all kindsa good wishes for you.

I would have to ask the director there (she is actually the cat’s servant but I dont know what else to call her) , but I am sure she would say yes to it (then I could borrow pics ) It was quite the place, and one of the best days in a very long time. They even have a spay/neuter clinic on site and they have ‘kitty kuddlers’ who hold those coming out of surgery to keep them warm and so they aren’t scared. That was happening the day I visited.
It really is a wonderful place, there is sadness some are ill of course, but they are loved, and love is what makes this life worthwhile.
Lemme ask her, and I will try and get something written up and you can do your magic.

That sounds awesome! I love to learn more and kitty kuddlers sound like angels.

I will wait for the sunshine this week Merlin…. maybe the sunshine is behind the gray clouds what hand on my sky?
the mama laughed as she saw the 3 cards of your tarot. The knight of swords and the Justice can be a sign for the upcoming court case with Aldi this week…:o)
Layla Morgan Wilde
Easy, in that case, good luck!

Merlin it’s so nice seeing you out in the sunshine soaking up the rays and love from Mom Layla and everyone else who shines down their love on you…….I’m hoping that you will start eating again my friend – a tarot reader needs energy! We aren’t on Instragram but I’m sure you will get a lot of questions to be answered and cards to interpret…..my Mom has a deck but hasn’t read them in a long time. One thing I don’t need a reading to know is that I’m sending you love and POTP and a wish for more time – your work is not finished dear Merlin………
Hugs and love, Sammy

Thanks dear Sammy and mom! I know how much you love the sun too.
