Jupiter, Black Cat Shelter Lifer Seeks Happy 9th Life
Do cats really have nine lives? Jupiter, a black cat hopes he does. He’s about to lose the only home he’s ever known, a small shelter in Queens, New York after 9 years.
Jupiter wound up at a shelter like many kittens but unlike his siblings, he got left behind and has lived his entire life without a real home. As you can imagine, it’s not a fate any cat would want and yet black cats more than any other color have the odds stacked against them.
In astrology, Jupiter is considered the planet of luck, abundance and opportunity. Maybe his luck has finally changed? He’s incredibly handsome, very shy at first but warms up instantly and looks for attention. He LOVES being petted and especially being brushed. Jupiter enjoys the company of the other cats but dogs are an unknown at this time.
His new (first family) family will need to allow him sufficient time to decompress and adjust to being in a home. It will be his first time experiencing all the good things life has to offer. To think, he will be able to look out a window, sleep in a bed, play or do anything else he wants at his leisure. Let’s get this boy out of the shelter and into a loving forever home.
If you know anyone who might be interested in adopting Jupiter or his black cat sheltermates, please contact Joan at [email protected] or visit their Facebook page Home To Home Rescue Support. Note: this is NOT the shelter.

It’s cats like Jupiter who inspired me to do a our upcoming anthology of black cat stories by real and fabulous black cats to raise awareness and increase their adoption rates.
We are still seeking submissions. To request the FAQ & submission guidlines, email [email protected]. Chris Poole from Cole and Marmalade is doing a video with me for our Kickstarter launching in a few weeks. Cole will be one of a few well known cats participating and we can’t wait to share the entire line-up!

Jupiter is not the only black cat needing a home from that shelter. There are seven including down on his luck, Lucky. Let’s change his luck too, please share on social.

It’s so sad to think he’s been in a shelter for that long. I hope he spends his second 9+ years with a loving family… and that Lucky will finally fit into his name.

I believe Jupiter will find a loving, loving home. I happen to love black cats, as we had a very sweet Kemal, when I was growing up. Alas, I am not in NYC. The more the word gets out the better it will be for Jupiter. Of that, I’m sure.

Oh my……..we are praying and hoping that the displaced shelter kitties – all of them – get forever homes ASAP…….Jupiter is a gorgeous panther and poor Lucky – how terribly scary it would be for him not to know some type of security as a blind kitty. Sending HOPE……………tons of it.
