Astro Kitty Leo & Matilda the Algonguin Hotel Cat’s Birthday Bash

Leo cats are born between July 23 and August and are ruled by the sun. Their element is fire, their metal is gold and their color is orange and gold.
The zodiac sign Leo the lion bears the closest resemblance the domestic cat. Leo is a fiery masculine sign of kitty royalty. The males are kings and the females are queens and everyone in their domain their loyal subjects.
Make no mistake: everything about a Leo cat is larger than life. Even smaller felines appear bigger with their ability to floof out their fur and tail with confidence. There is no mistaking a Leo when they swish into the room with a regal presence.These are no wallflowers cowering in the corner, even if that corner is a cage at the shelter. Once adopted, they rule with a loyal heart. They’re friendly, gracious with visitors, confident and loving but can be demanding. Leo wants the finest food RIGHT NOW mmmmreow. A crystal bowl and spring water and make it snappy! I want my treats and while you’re at it, some belly rubs…
No one purrs louder, makes bigger figure-8′s around your ankles or bigger biscuits on your tummy than a Leo. They don’t sit, stand or lie down without looking as elegant as a Sphinx. Their large, luminous eyes are as mysterious as any Shakespearean actor with a dramatic out-sized personality to match!
Whether long or short-haired, Leos respond well to grooming. After all, they’re vain and want to look their best. If they jump and miss their mark, don’t laugh at them. They’re proud and will pretend everything is okay even if they’re feeling poorly, so yearly vet wellness visits are a must. A cat pent up becomes a lion and may show off their claws. They need lots of interactive play to keep their inner jungle cat at peace. A tall scratching post/kitty condo to view their domain from above is ideal. As a fire sign, Leos especially enjoy a warm hearth, sun puddle or cozy duvet. They prefer to have their own bed, toys, dishes, litter box and not have to share. They of course expect to be #1 cat regardless of how many other felines share their castle. A Leo cat truly is a little big cat with and if treated like a king or queen, all will be peaceful in your kingdom. I mean their kingdom.
Our Astro Kitty model is Matilda the famous Algonquin Hotel cat. Even though she is likely a Capricorn according the age she was rescued, she celebrates her birthday every August with a fund-raising bash at the Algonquin Hotel. This year proceeds will benefit Bidewee, the oldest no-kill animal shelter and organization in the United States. I’ll be attending and will be covering the event. If you’re in NYC on August 7, you can adopt a pet from the Bideawee’s Mobile Matchmaking Tour, which will be parked in front of the hotel 3 PM to 7 PM.
Matilda III official title is the Directfur of Guest Relations at New York’s TheAlgonquinHotel. The enlightened hotel management is pet-friendly. Yes, dogs and cats are not only welcome to stay but receive the royal treatment. Pet guests are greeted with a “purrrsonalized” welcome kit including a welcome letter from Matilda and prior to arrival amenities such as food and water bowls, a floor mat, a litter box if needed are placed in the room.
