99th Anniversary of Be Kind To Animals Week

This week marks the Humane Society’s 99th anniversary of Be Kind to Animals Week. Do you know what we’d like for the 100th anniversary? A quantum leap forward in compassion and awareness so we don’t have to have these events. Merlin, our 19.5 year-old Siamese has this to say, literally!

Kindness towards animals has always been key to having my friendship! I refuse to tolerate anyone who is unkind to animals!

Kindness should be an action that occurs without thought or reminders….it should be automatic for us all.

Being kind to animals should be EVERY day, and it shouldn’t have to be something humans need to remember – they should just DO it!

And to think that it was Black Beauty that started all this. When I think of people being cruel to an animal, it breaks my heart. Animals are people, too.
