Meet Tina Fey, Harry Potter Plus Other Extraordinary Black Cats

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

It started harmlessly enough, a graphic requesting cat pics to be featured.

I never expected to meet Tina Fey or Harry Potter plus other extraordinary black cats. With so many fabulous felines, watch for another feature here next week.

I wasn’t sure what the response would be so I on posted on our Facebook page, another page and on Instagram. Cats and more fabulous black cats. Then it got really interesting. Tracy Dion from Catcentric wanted to write about Black Cats Tell All, my crowdfunding project to publish a short story collection to essentially rebrand black cats as adoptable. Tracy requested black cats photos from her community and it rained even more cats. Check out her excellent post featuring lots of amazing mini-panthers of every size and shape. More coverage landed me on the front page of The Huffington Post Cats and learn more about my views in an interview at Petcha this week.

I can feel a groundswell of movement but time is running out. There are only 13 days left to fund the project. Join the Black Cat tribe. Pledge any amount (there are perks) or share this to get the message out. Liking is not enough. Honestly, I’d rather have zero likes and more shares. Action is needed. Black cats in shelters everywhere need our help now. Stay tuned for a special event on taking place on Wednesday, July 6! I’ll announce it here on Monday.

Meanwhile, mea culpa to my regular readers and blogger pals. I’m working around the clock and unable to leave more than a few likes or reweets. Things will either get back to normal in two weeks, or I’ll retire from blogging. Yes, it’s do or die serious.

This is what’s it’s all about: the connection between humans and their black muses. I’m still curating stories for the book. If you think your cat would like to tell their story and they have a good assistant. email me, Layla [email protected] for the story submission FAQ.

Meet the feline Tina Fey and her sidekick, Flo. Their mom, Kathe Boyd says, “Tina Fey is fuzzy goofball, while Flo is sleek and smooth Neferkitty/Cleocatra. Sisters from a feral mom as different as can be.

They may not be Siamese or other twins but their silhouette is timeless elegance reserved for black cats.

By comparison, Brisket and Dante are not as confident or at ease because they don’t have a forever home. They are up for adoption. I found the pic at CatCentric’s Facebook page but not the shelter info. If someone finds it, please message me.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never met a cat named Harry Potter. His mom, Stephanie Alter says, “Harry loves to snuggle. If I lay on the floor, on my belly and stretch my arms along the floor in front of me and make a circle, he will curl up in them and purr.” A magic circle perhaps? The feline wizard hasn’t told me what magic spells he has up his paw, but I think all black cats are magic. It’s what I named our Pinterest page. Black Cats Are Magic. Visit and see if you agree.

“Driver, let’s hit the road.”

Loki is clearly up for adventure. His mom, Iris M.Sanabria-Piety say, “This is Loki.. He loves hanging out in boxes of all sizes. He enjoy riding in cars as well… by far the best companion on a road trip. Love him to pieces. I’d love to hear a story from a cat who is “the best companion on a road trip”.

Meet the lovely Lola, who has a doting cat dad, Floyd Plymale who has this to say about Lola, “She is adorable because not only she beautiful, she gives everyone kisses (see tongue out) and she enjoys the laundry basket so much, we got her one of her own.” Lola is fond of pink costumes and has quite the imagination. Lola’s story is included in Black Cats Tell All.

Lucy would like to go on a road trip to her forever home. After that, who knows? This velvety beauty is available for adoption in Norwalk Conn. At Paws I’d like to know her secret for looking young. She’s a playful, young senior, @ 8.5 an would prefer to be the only kitty in her new home.

Karla Janira Ayala is a vet tech and professional groomer who has two mini-panthers both found as kittens. I don’t have space for more details but it’s quite the story of luck and fate. Their mom says,”Bagheera was our feral kitty foster that I rescued on Halloween night and he was 3 months. I managed to tame him and he’s become a sweet lovable and playful kitten. No one showed any interest in adopting him because of his color. So now he will be 1 year in July, and he is my foster fail. Ares our big kitty was our first rescue in our current neighborhood, my stepson found him at age 8 weeks eating dry grass while riding his bike.” Two lucky cats but fate stepped when Ares lost his eye in an encounter with a pitbulI. All is well now. Ares enjoys being a grooming assistant, playing big brother to other foster pets, riding in cars and wearing bowties. He even loves the dog who attacked him.

With this tiny selection of black cats, I wanted to show different they are. They share nothing in common except the color of their fur. That and being adorable, adoptable black cats, each with a unique story. It’s time for more stories, more voices to be heard. If you believe it’s time for black cats to be just as adoptable as any other cat, visit Black Cats Tell All join the tribe and stay tuned for the next blog feature. Maybe your black house panther will be featured next.
