InLiven Certified Organic Probiotic Giveaway + A Special Cat From the Annex Cat Rescue
Holistic health is very important to us at Cat Wisdom 101. We’re big advocates of using probiotics for humans and pets (see our post on why your pet needs probiotics) so when I learned about a new product, InLiven Certified Organic Probiotic SuperFood, we were all ears. A Special Rescue Named Jackie
Each winner of the Pettie Awards gets to give the shelter of their choice $1000.00. If Cat Wisdom101 wins the Pettie for Best Cat Blog, I will donate my prize money to the Annex Cat Rescue. I founded the rescue group in 1997 and it was an all-consuming part of my life until I moved to the U.S. in 2001. I’m very proud of how the organization has grown and it remains my legacy. Life with Cats did a feature recently about Jackie, a rescue (pictured above) which you can read about at the Annex Cat Rescue
The story of Jackie sums up why I do what I do. Everything. This blog, cat behavior consulting, social media advocacy, even the cat artwork in my ETSY benefit shop. I was one person with the desire to make a difference in the lives of cats but there is more power in a group. When a group works successfully together, it can make a huge difference, one cat and one purr at time. But it begins with one person. You, me, all of us.
When I came up the name Annex Cat Rescue, I lived in neighborhood called the Annex. My plan was to organize a group of volunteers to feed a feral colony, do TNR and set up adoptable rescued cats into a network of foster homes. Before long, the group expanded into nearby areas like Chinatown and the area where Jackie was found.
We love you to like the Annex Cat Rescue on Facebook
We appreciate each and every vote for Cat Wisdom101. There is only a week left to vote. Vote Here.

we use an Omega and a joint supplement on our house, but I hadn’t thought to give my cats probiotics. I take them so I should have looked into it. I am interested in hearing about personal experiences and I’d like to know if it will help with particularly sour smelling waste-my female has that problem but her brothers do not and they are all on the same diet. Glad to have learned about this, looking forward to hearing more!

I don’t want to enter but TW opens a fish capsule and puts it in my food every once in a while. I also got the book I won.

Interesting! We don’t know a lot about probiotics, so we will try to sign up for that call (the humans’ work schedules are a little crazy, but we will try for sure).
We have been voting for you every day! 🙂

Thanks for the great info, we are probiotic clueless.
Cherry City Kitties
This call will be perfect! I have a reiki client (4pawed) who has some long term “issues” and I am just not super familiar with probiotics so this couldn’t have come at a better time! Thanks Layla (and the universe).
Off to vote again today! Best of luck!

I wish my peeps had known ’bout that before, when my brother Desdemona was still here with us. He had chronic constipation, too.

I don’t know whether or not I can make the conference call, but I’d love hearing more about your experiences with Merlin, constipation, and probiotics.
One of my FIV+ boys, Simon, has struggled with constipation for years. He was previously diagnosed with mega colon, but that diagnosis flew out the window about 6 months ago when an emergency medical event required him to be on steroids. I recently reviewed the past year of daily journal entries that I keep on him, and without a doubt, he has no issues with constipation while being medicated with steroids, and doesn’t even need laxatives, stool softeners, etc. The new probable diagnosis is IBD with constipation (instead of diarrhea). Food trials aren’t an option right now as he just had dental surgery, and we need to keep him eating to see if he regains weight.
Anyway, long story short, as I was starting one of my other FIV+ boys on probiotics for loose stools after 4 oral surgeries and a whole lot of antibiotics, I decided that I wanted to try them on Simon too. Unfortunately, he will not eat anything that I sprinkle them on. While I could mix them with a little something soft and syringe them to him, Simon is a nightmare to syringe anything to. Picture two Vet techs and a Vet trying to orally medicate him. Yep, someone ended up going to the doctor for a bite. He’s a bear, and just about as strong too!

Michelle, thanks for your support. Did you read our article on probiotics? There are a few options if Simon doesn’t like anything sprinkled on his food. He won’t eat it mixed into wet food? Some probiotics are very tasty and cats like licking then out of the tube like a treat like Florentera.
