Caturday Full Moon Mashup
There’s nothing like the full moon and lunar eclipse today to make everyone feel even more loony. Add the holiday season madness and it’s frazzle city. The instant cure is simple: stop and pet a cat. Or better yet, cuddle with a couple of lap cats.
New & Mews
Domino and Merlin continue to enjoy male bonding with their each other and their dad. Domino, who is reputed to be part ragdoll is embracing the affectionate nature of the breed. After over seven years of feral living, he’s making up for lost time. One thing puzzled us. Ragdolls are known for their ability to go limp when picked up and held. After all these years, Domino refused to let anyone pick him up. We have the claw marks to prove it.
Last week, Domino played his usual game on the porch at dinner time. Do I come in now or make the humans open the door a hundred times? Fed up, I said, to hubby, “Just pick him up. Don’t hesitate. Lift him up under his front legs and hold him away from your body in case he scratches.” I opened the door, hubby reached for Dom and just like that, he lifted him up and carried him indoors without a peep or struggle.
Since then, I tried it myself to my amazement. While not quite ragdoll limp, I’d call this progress considering this is the cat who would lacerate ankles for sport. This is the unglamorous side of my life, folks.
We are a multi-denominational household and this year, holiday decorating is behind schedule. Odin and Domino play non-stop but never cuddle.
They have at least one wrestling match in the evening in the crinkle paper. It remains their favorite toy especially when I hide catnip toys for “find the needle in the haystack”. One evening even Merlin and Gris Gris joined in and later to my surprise found Gris Gris napping in the box. It takes a lot to surprise me these days. What has your cat done lately to surprise you?

Great quote from Odin!

We love seeing you guys laying all over your dad! Domino, you’re living the good life now!!
Rumpy Drummond
Malachi, the stray, has decided it’s time to start spending time with the rest of the gang. Amazingly he’s far less afraid of the dogs than he is of me.

I soooooo enjoyed this!
I absolutely ADORED the first photo and the caption…superb!!!
Funny you mentioned the full moon because I was staring at it last night and thinking “Uh-oh” lol!
Abby
I am so happy that Domino has accepted the indoor life as what is best for him. All of the kitties are happy and content, which I know makes you feel the same.

Your husband and mine must have the “cat whisperer” gene…I am jealous of what he gets away with, with our crew!
About the crinkle paper; do you “find” it in the litter box? I’m amazed it isn’t all eaten up by now!
boomermuse
I think they do! The crinkle paper has not gotten into the litter but requires daily sweeping. They love it more than ever since someone tore a catnip toy and it’s all over!
@Abby, he’s still conflicted at times. He spent last night outdoors, to our chagrin.
Cheysuli
It can take time for feral cats but I think he is coming along nicely–obviously he trusts you!

awww, I really understand how some cats hate being picked up. At home, I wear thick velour when picking up Ched. He tolerates over the shoulder, only, while Mao loves the baby hold.
Mancats are the best. Such adorable pix.
Do you have stockings for your little man cats? We put a catnip mouse in Ched’s and in Mao’s.
boomermuse
Yes. we have stockings for them. Catnip mice are a good choice.
@Chey, yes but my hubby more.
@Carolyn, LOL on spluttering.
@Kathy, thanks and purrs to you, Skeeter & Izzy.
@Brian, I bet!
Carolyn
WOW! Hurrah for Domino and for you guys being there for him for so long. LOVE the Cool Cat Man photo. Made me splutter a bit and had to wipe my screen π

We absolutely love that Dom is settling in so well! There is really no explaining why we want to be outside all nite on a cold nite but sometimes us “guys”(Skeeter) just gotta be “free”.
We think that Odin is Dom’s friend and playmate and Gris Gris is the elder to be respected but Master Merlin has “choosen” Dom to be his student and muse in training and to be a comfort to him in his dotage. He has begun the process of sharing all of his secret kitty powers and knowledge with Dom so that the household will be protected by yet another powerful magical feline when he feels that Dom is ready for the role. It is good to know that Merlin has made such a wise choice. Much love to Odin,Gris Gris, Dom and Master Merlin. We wish for all a long happy life filled with sunshine, friendship and love. With love Skeeter and Izzy. >^..^<

We are ALWAYS full of surprises! We enjoyed your adventures today too!

Our Jazz is a Ragdoll and he can become so limp it is like holding a bowl of jello!! When he first met my man, Dan, he was just like Domino and I was quite shocked at how rigid his body became when Dan tried to pick him up. Now, years later, Jazz will drape his body over Dan like a custom fit glove!! Domino has come a long way and I am so proud of him!!!
boomermuse
Deb, this is good to know. Dom’s come a long way but for the first time in weeks slept outdoors. Maybe it was the full moon.
@Pam & Sam, nothing better than a lapful of cat(s)!
@ngrid, yes, they are daddy’s boys for sure.
@Kitcaboodles, since you know ragdolls, it’s unbelievable how lonely he was early on outdoors.
Pam Kimmell
Especially adorable photos Layla….Love “Cat Man” with a lap full of cats and I agree with everyone that Dom’s expression is priceless….he’s really bonded with everyone in the house – “formerly feral” ?? DEFINITELY!!! LOL
Happy Weekend…….

The cat man photo is priceless, and the one of Domino playing with Odin made me smile. The expression on Domino’s face is so cute!
Kitcaboodles
Oh my goodness, with every post I read Domino has come on another 10 leaps! It’s so good to see him all stretched out lapping up the attention on his cool cat man! I was so sad when I first read about Domino because I know how loving and trustful Ragdolls are and couldn’t imagine one of them living feral. Your progress just goes to show that he had it in him all along and just needed someone to bring out his true ragdoll personality!
