Arm & Hammer Holiday Ideas For the Home
Ready or not, the holiday season is here. For me it’s about cocooning, staying warm and snug with loved ones and of course, our cats. With central heating on and windows closed, keeping things fresh is always a concern. Our friends at Arm & Hammer sent us some goodies and I wanted to share some of my favorite tips from their book of 100 ideas using their famous baking soda. I already use Arm & Hammer detergent, the Ultra Power 4X concentrate or should I say my husband loves it. Yes, it’s true. I rarely do laundry because hubby enjoys it. He’s a purist who dries laundry outdoors until the snow flies. For extra freshness, he adds a half cup of baking soda in the rinse cycle. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
I washed all my hair brushes and cat brushes by safely by soaking them in a bowl of warm water and few teaspoons of Arm & Hammer baking soda mixed in. Rinsed, dried and we’re good to go. Our nightly ritual of brushing our boys continues. Cats love feel-good rituals. Come to think of it so do I. My favorite anti-stress and cold weather ritual are relaxing baths with a scented candle and a movie. Having a deep soaking tub happens to be one of the many things I’m grateful for. I’m blogging all month about gratitude at my other blog Boomer Muse How are you preparing your home for the holiday season and what are you most grateful for today?
This post is sponsored by Arm & Hammer but my opinions are 100% my own.

Thanks for the tip about the hair brushes. I never thought of that.

My human says there are so many things we can do with baking soda, it is an essential ingredient to have!

TW uses that detergent for some things and either Cheer or All both Free and Clear for others. Gramma always line dried everything. We’re not allowed anything like that in the condo. Gramma used to wash the combs and brushes in ammonia. They only use the FURminator on me cos that’s the one I’ll allow used.
Sorry to read about your family emergency and illness. I hope everything returns to normal for you soon.

There are some very good “old fashioned” things like baking soda (salt and sugar too) that do a wonderful organic job of cleansing!!! Great post and wonderful ideas.

I don’t have a lot of holiday festivities at my home, but I love exchanging cards with my friends who are distant and I love giving my friends gifts I know they’ll love.
I am always so very thankful for my fur babies. They are the best and can make any day better.

Yes, being thankful for our fur babies is so important.

Baking Soda is a great stuff, we use it for the bathroom, as stain remover and you can use it for your teeth too :o)

Good to know, it’s popular with dogs too and in France!

We use it to freshen the litter box. Always important. Love the photo! So pretty. 🙂 – Crepes.

Thanks Alana 🙂

Arm & Hammar, one of several 19th century companies that are still doing very well. I use the laundry soap, the baking soda, and for hairbrushes, as well.
The old companies are my favorite because they have a solid product. And love the history of the name, too.

I agree. There’s no substitute for a good history and track record.

The peep uses that stuff for washing peep clothes. She seems to like it. I, on the other paw, use spit and polish.

Ah the good old spit and polish. That’s why we need to wash our clothes 😉

Yes, Arm & Hammer is a staple for me as well.
I used to have an old deep tub I could almost swim in and I miss it terribly. Oh well.
Boomer Muse has helped me mentally these past weeks, keep up the great work.
None of my cats like to be brushed. So much petting goes on.
