The Brooklyn Cats Who Live In A Tree

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

The Brooklyn Cats Who Live In A Tree

In a magical elm tree in Brooklyn stands one of the city’s more unusual cat colonies – three gray and white feral cats who’ve turned nature’s urban architecture into their perfect home. They are fed and cared by volunteers.

Goran, the leader of this arboreal clan, claims the highest perch, surveying his domain from above. The tree’s deep, weathered hollows provide these wild city dwellers with cozy dens, protecting them from rain, snow, and the bustle of city life below.

While most feral cats stake out territories under porches or in alleyways, these three have created their own unique community among the branches, proving that sometimes the best home is the one that reaches for the sky.

A poem in honor of these renegade cats.

Brooklyn Cats Who Live In A Tree

In Brooklyn, an elm reaches tall,
With Goran, who rules over all.
From his branch up high,
He keeps watchful eye,
While two friends heed his feral call.

The tree, with its hollows worn deep,
Makes dens where three ferals can sleep.
Through winter and storm,
They stay safe and warm
In hidey-holes cozy and steep.

These gray cats, who live wild and free,
Made home in their Brooklyn elm tree.
Though streets sprawl below,
They’ll stay where they know
It’s just perfect for all of the three!
