Three Books About Cat Love, Loss and the Afterlife

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

animal communication books

Full confession: my book review pile is never going to empty. To make a dent, I’m featuring three books today delving into animal communication including the afterlife. Anyone who has lost and mourned a beloved pet has questions. Why did he have to die now? Is there something I could have done to prevent it? Do our pets go to heaven or reincarnate? You may or not believe in pet psychics or the ability to tune into our pets intuitively, but sometimes you have to experience a paranormal phenomena to believe it. But why, wait? All of us can fine tune our ability to communicate with our pets.

That’s the premise behind Talking with Dogs and Cats: Joining the Conversation to Improve Behavior and Bond with Your Animals by animal communicator and radio host Tim Link.

He discovered his psychic gifts late in life and has devoted the past ten years to helping clients connect with their pets, find lost cats and using Reiki for healing. His book has practical tips for improving every pet parent’s intuitive gifts for happier pets and people. It may seem silly to some, but I agree with the author about keeping our pets in the loop: tell them where you’re going, what’s going on when routine changes and since animals communicate telepathically, it can be verbally out loud or silently. As a lifelong intuitive, I’ve found intuition ebbs and flows according to external stimuli, stress and physical illness. The excess of electronic stimuli from being plugged in 24/7 is no intuitive’s friend. Meditation and spending time in nature helps us focus and tune in. The biggest hurdle to cultivating our ability to communicate telepathically with animals is fear and doubt. When practice doesn’t make purrfect, or for those who can’t quite trust their own intuition, it may be time for a pet psychic.

A book that answers pressing pet parents’ question of what animals are thinking during life and in the afterlife is There Are No Sad Dogs in Heaven: Finding Comfort After the Loss of a Pet by celebrity pet psychic Sonya Fitzpatrick This is not a step-by-step how to develop your intuitive gifts but a varied and insightful collection of stories of her client’s and their pets. I first learned about the quick-witted British blonde with a way with animals years ago on Animal Planet and loved her. You can listen to her Sunday evenings on Sirius XM and there is (hopefully) another TV show in the works.

Sonya Fitzpatrick’s uplifting words about dealing with the death of a pet while showing some cat love.

Purr Prints of the Heart: A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond by Deb Barnes. A heart-warming/aching/breaking pet loss memoir which I’ve reviewed on Amazon and blurbed, rounds out our series. Anyone who has experienced the deep love and loss of a cat will recognize the journey from the pain of grieving to hope. It’s a universal story of the natural cycle we call life and this case, it narrated by Mr. Jazz, the author’s beloved Ragdoll. Deb, is not a pet psychic per se but intuitive in the way we all can be if we take the time to truly connect with our pets. It may mean spending less time online, off our digital devices to commune with our furry family, but we’ll be richer for it. Or, so says Merlin our feline reviewer who suggests putting up your feet and reading any or all of our book selections, ideally with a cat in your lap.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful-sounding books with us, Layla! We believe in afterlife pet communication, too. We still get occasional visits from our Angels, Graphite and Sammy.

They all sound wonderful books. I do believe in the afterlife, and I know without any doubt that Eric visited me a couple of weeks after his passing. I remember it like it was yesterday and will never forget it.

I remember Sonya being on Animal Planet.
So much of me wants to believe what she said in the video but I just don’t sense Abby as much as I want to. As close as we are/were/ARE. All I have of her is my own sense of her absence. Her physical absence. Maybe one day, I keep hoping it will be different.

We have Jazz’s book, but the others look amazing and we will have to add to our library. You gave wonderful advice, Layla. We do need to unplug, relax, and meditate (preferably with a cat on our laps) and reconnect. My own intuitiveness is clouded by every day activities and I need to reconnect for sure!

Beautiful, wonderful books all!!! It is good to explore all of the different views and experiences. Love forms bonds that are far stronger than anything in the universe so why wouldn’t we be able to follow those connecting threads to another plane?
Reading about someone else’s grief and mourning can sometimes help someone thru their own. It hurts like nothing else and we hurt for each other. That is one of those things that we as humans have lost touch with in this world of today.

    Luvs to all,

Thank you for featuring my book, Purr Prints of the Heart, Layla. While the book itself is not just about the afterlife, it is an important aspect of it and I have gotten numerous comments from people who have reached out to me personally to thank for addressing that in my book. I think many people have had pet sightings, but have just been reluctant to admit it for fear of people not believing them. Purr Prints was reassuring to them that they were not alone in what they have experienced.
