MA logo Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days is being presented in New York by The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. We’re huge fans and supporters of the 501(c)(3) non-profit charity which works with 150+ rescue groups and shelters to find homes for thousands of New York City cats and dogs. Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s goal is to transform New York City into a no-kill community by 2015.

The largest adoption venues in NYC will be the Petco at Union Square on May 31 and Union Square Park on June 1. Here’s A LIST OF ALL THE GROUPS participating including the outer boroughs and Westchester County.

Of the 90 Rescue Groups involved I’d like to say a special shout out to BRONX TAILS They are a tiny group of brave volunteers who rescue and TNR in the Bronx where there is NO SHELTER. All their rescues are heroic. They currently have two brother Ernie and Odie up for adoption who could easily be long lost relatives of our Odin who was rescued from the Bronx. All our Cat Wisdom 101 cats are rescues by choice.

I spent time at my local shelter yesterday helping get cats ready for adoption. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a sad face behind the bars of a cage glow with hope. The best pets aren’t always the charming ones vying for attention. The shy, less than perfect ones with the saddest histories often make the happiest endings. Just look at our Cat Wisdom 101 cats.
