It’s that spooky time of the year when you never know what’s lurking around the corner. Merlin and Gris Gris were lazing in the sun yesterday while I sported my new temporary tattoo from Cattoodesign.com of a cat. The harsh shadow looked ominous and before you could say boo!, I had some fun with photo editing. I’ll be blogging more about the tattoo this week and a fun giveaway.

Not all cats enjoy domestic bliss. You’ll have to wait, but today I’m dying to share this spooky cat book sure to send a shiver up your spine. Randy Russell has written several books about ghosts and folklore. In fact, he calls himself ghostlorist. His publicist sent me his book about cat ghosts and folklore from the American South titled Ghost Cats of the South and I devoured it in one sitting. The 22 stories, each illustrated with vintage photo of a cat, enchanted, enthralled and yes, spooked me. These ghost cats display devotion and vengeance from beyond the grave. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, it will make you look at your cat differently. I can’t think of a better gift for spooky Halloween campfire storytelling.

I live this book I checked it out at the library a few weeks ago and couldn’t put it down. Being from the south I never knew these were real folklore about cats 🙂

I have a female ghost cat, Emily. She has more hiding places than a criminal on the run and suddenly appears out of nowhere. If I find a closet door open, I know where to find Emily! If I’m the winner of this contest, I’ll be sure and read the book to Emily — or leave it in a closet for her to find.
