Caturday Pet Buzz, Weird To Wonderful

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

Happy Caturday dear cat lovers. We have a grab bag of pet buzz today plus a serving of weird. Down the rabbit hole kind weird. After all these years of blogging about cats, it never gets old. There is always something new about the world of cats to captivate us, right?

We often share whatever catches our eye on Facebook. This week it happened to be a pair of shoes with the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland and Alice herself as the heel. Clearly, I wasn’t the only one who thought it the weirdest cat-themed item. My share went viral with more reach than usual and made me curious why. You’re welcome to leave a comment about the shoes here or at our Facebook page and do follow us for more unexpected fun.

Being as curious as a cat, I had to find out if these shoes are for real and they are and then some. It turns out they are part of a collection of Alice in Wonderland-themed shoes from a perfectly named company in the U.K called Irregular Choice Launched in 1999, it’s the brainchild of Dan Sullivan who was inspired by the London punk-era of fashion. Take a peek, if you dare, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. You might end up down the rabbit’s hole of shoes. They have all kinds of the most insanely whimsical shoes and bags you can order online. Lucky folks in the U.K. can visit one of several equally whimsical retail shops or follow the madness on Instagram

I’ve been a busier bee than usual, if that’s possible. I’m heading to Orlando next week to attend Global Pet Expo. It’s the biggest show of its kind and this year, over 3200 pet product booths should prove insightful. I’ll be sharing the best of best from the weird to the wonderful. More about that on Monday.

I was interviewed twice on Pet Buzz Radio. I’ll share the link once it’s live. The show is hosted by Charlotte Reed, pet trendologist and Veterinarian, Dr.Michael Fleck. The Dynamic Pet Duo shares breaking news and discuss pet trends, regarding pet health and wellness; animal behavior; consumer pet products; art and culture; animal-related books; celebrity pet gossip; companion animal travel and more.

What I love most about our cat loving community is how we all rally for cats in need.

This week we featured a black cat named Jupiter who has spent his entire life, nine years in a shelter. The shelter is now closing and he needs a home. The amazing Facebook community Black Cat Appreciation shared his story and I reached out to the kind people at Road To Home Rescue Support who said, there are several potential adopters and the group will feature the rest of the remaining cats in the next day or two, so keep sharing like Gwen Cooper who retweeted. She’s the best-selling author who is a generous supporter of cats in need at her Facebook page Homer Blind Wondercat.

Gwen has a sequel to Homer’s Odyssey and I’m hanging my head about my long overdue book review but for now, visit Gwen Cooper and find out about Homer, The Ninth Life Of A Blind Wondercat. It’s pretty awesome, like the big-hearted Gwen.
