I Was The Cat: Graphic Novel Giveaway by Merlin

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

Wait a minute. It’s supposed to be Mondays with Merlin or Mancat Monday. It’s Merlin here and I usually do book review/giveaways on Sundays but someone was out of town and you can be sure it wasn’t me. I flew on an airplane once and once was enough for several lifetimes. Can you imagine Layla flew the coop during my 20th birthday week? While you, dearest reader stopped by with the kindest of wishes every day. You shared my posts and some of you were so sweet to donate to my fundraiser (which is still on until Oct. 20th).

Thank-you from the bottom of my old, furry heart. Thank-you for your continued purrs and thank-you for sharing and helping cats in any way you can.

While Layla was at the PetSafe summit in Knoxville, she spent a lot of time with some d-o-g bloggers. I know because she called me on the phone plus I could smell them. I’ll let her tell you all about it soon. I pretended not to miss her. It’s Cat Rule #385.

We had the best super snuggles last night and I did not mind posing for something called a graphic novel. This is something new for me. Imagine a regular hard cover book filled with graphics like comic strips that tell a story. In this case, I Was The Cat tells the story of Alison Breaking, a cool blogger who receives an offer to ghost write a memoir by mysterious patron named Burma who turns out to be cat ( I knew I was going to like this) but wait for it, the author Paul Tobin spins out a yarn linking Burma’s nine past lives to his current one. There are dark forces at work with shades of a New World Order. Ha, and I thought cats were supposed to rule the world. You’ll just have to read it to find out.

The simply stunning illustrations by Benjamin Dewey drew me in and let’s face it: sometimes I’m lazy and prefer looking at pretty pictures and not read. That Burma dude is a cat after my own heart. The glossy pages on heavy stock feel good on the paw for this page turner. I happily give I Was The Cat a Four Paws Up rating.
