Domino, a survivor

Is it better to give or to receive? Today, we’re happy to give and share. We normally do Mondays With Merlin but today, he’s agreed to share the spotlight with Domino, who is the feral who came in from the cold. I’m happy to report he’s recovered from his illness and lounging safe and warm indoors. He’s one of the lucky ferals.

To celebrate his good fortune in this season of miracles, I’d like to offer a gift from one of our readers, Mary Matthews. Mary has written a charming feline version of A Christmas Carol titled A Feral Christmas that would do Charles Dickens proud. Ms. Matthews, the author of a romantic mystery series set in the Roaring Twenties is an animal welfare advocate from Southern California.

Mary wrote the heartwarming tale to promote awareness of the lives of feral and stray cats. Scrooge in her story, set in the ’20s, is a miserly, cat-hating judge misrules in a dispute about cats. Instead of being visited by the ghosts of Christmases past, the judge is visited three times by magical cats, a fluffy white cat named Tatania and her tuxie companion Zeus. In the end, they teach the true value of cats and the meaning of Christmas.
