Surprise! It’s Hot Summer Caturday News

• A nice surprise arrived in the mail this week when a copy of the Fall issue of Catster arrived earlier than expected. What a thrill to see my very first cover feature in a glossy magazine! Catster print replaced the iconic Cat Fancy in spring 2015 and promises a fresh new approach to all things cat. The Sept./Oct.cover model is celebrity cat Atchoum and my article is about him. I’ve done brand and other consulting for Atchoum and came up with his tagline: “I’m hairy not scary”. He is as adorable as ever despite his fierce gaze.

• Another surprise came with the announcement from who named Cat Wisdom 101 one the Best Pet Blogs at FirstSiteGuide.com a cool, new blogging resource site. They made a cute graphic of me with Merlin. While I’m not a big fan of cartoonized images, this is fun. What do you think? Should we use it on our website? Speaking of which, I’m itching for a complete blog makeover. Hopefully in the fall, a perfect time for new beginnings.

• More delight than surprise is finding out our dear friend Alana Grelyak of the web series CATastrophes is a #CatVidFest finalist for the prestigious Golden Kitty Award. Previous winners include Grumpy Cat and Henri Le Chat Noir. The CATAastrophes entry is a funny and perfectly insightful video “Cat Behavior Finally Explained” and one every cat lover can relate to. Alana and her film director/writer/editor husband have amassed an incredible body of funny but thought-provoking cat videos on their YouTube channel. Their goal is not only to entertain but advocate for cat adoption and a no-kill nation.

I’d really, really like Alana to win so that means getting the most votes. May I ask for your vote?

The Cat Video Festival takes place Minneapolis on August 12th when the Golden Kitty Winner is announced. The new reel, curated by Will Braden will feature approximately 100 cat videos culled from nominations by the public in the categories of Comedy, Drama, Animated, Musical, Action, Vintage, and Documentary.
