It’s the Summer Solstice today and to celebrate the first day of summer, we’re excited about our Solar Chasers giveaway, a new solar-powered toy we’re hot for.
As a holistic cat behaviorist, Solar Chasers are the most innovative and interactive cat toy we’ve seen in a long time. More than ever, cats need interactive play to satisfy their need to hunt. The only way to really know how a cat toy works is to try it. We unwrapped a Solar Chaser from the very nice people from SolarChasers.com who sent us one to try. We love that they’re small, American family business and not a mega corporation too! The small green unit contains a solar battery with a power on/off switch and big suctions cups (easily removed if you’d like to re-position).
I decided to stick it on our sunny south-facing window, placing the dangling ball/feather toy a few inches off the floor but I’d suggest experimenting with different heights and locations.
For kitties, play variety is the spice of life. Once the unit is charged, the cord and toy will move, enticing a kitty to imagine the toy is alive! Odin, our official product tester took one look at his Solar Chaser and the chase was on.
Back and forth batting practice, running in circles, tugging, pulling and rolling on the floor and finally a successful “kill”. No matter how hard he tugged, those suction cups stayed put. A short rest and our tester was ready for round two.
What we love is the Solar catcher’s ability to be used in multiple ways from interactive play when a cat is alone and interactive play with their pet parent.
