Monday again? So fast. Too fast. Last week was touch and go for me. What, you don’t recognize me face down? It’s me, Merlin and yes, I’m your motivational maven and feline mastermind around here. For how long is anyone’s guess. The humans were speaking in hushed tones about things like quality of life, the big E and the V- E- T. I may be blind but I’m not deaf. I’ve slowed down some more but I’m still able to climb up and down stairs slowly and snuggle like there’s no tomorrow. The vet is coming again on Thursday and you can believe I’m going to be on my best behavior. I’m so not ready for the big litter box in the sky. Not now when we just had our first warm day. The lawn chairs came out and I enjoyed a short, very slow walk in the sunshine. I do believe there is a picnic in my near future. Please think good thoughts for this vet visit. I don’t want it to be my last one.

    Dearest Merlin,
We know that life becomes difficult with old age aches and pains in our bodies. If your vet can make those go away , I am sure he has done what he can. I know you are able to tell your mom when life becomes too hard due to too much suffering- just give her a sign and tell her you will love her to the moon and back, just as you always have. We all dearly love you as you have found a place in our hearts where you will live forever.

Dear Merlin, we’re glad to see you enjoying the sunshine. We cross our paws that everything goes well with the vet, and that you can still stay with us for a while and enjoy the sunshines to come. Purrs

Merlin you’re the strongest guy I know….and I think that you will go on your own terms and probably with Miss Layla holding/hugging/snuggling with you. A little bit of heaven before going to the Bridge….that’s that “golden feeling” of being totally loved and you DO have that my friend!!

    Hugs, Sammy

    Merlin
Mom knows the up and down roller coaster ride your Mom is on and the toll it takes. We also know that our kitties do let us know when they want to leave the physical world and become a total spirit. I hope and pray that you continue to find being in the physical world a better choice.

Merlin, I was thinking of you yesterday when I was working with my Viking Runes and a piece of amber. You always make me smile, you wise old meezer. Sending you all our love and purrs of joy that the day can bring.

Ah, Merlin, we’ll all be thinking about you this week as every week. Sky has been doing pretty well lately until this weekend. He’s decided he doesn’t like food again. Frustrating.

Sweet Merlin…we send our love and warm and cuddly thoughts to you…of course we all know that forever is a state we cannot own..if we could then we would never meet those who may have a never….so only you and Layla will know what will happen and i am sure that whatever does come to pass it will do so with respect and love and care…so today and until then indeed go forward ..slow as you like and embrace the moment in the sun …much love and hugs to you all Fozziemum xxx

You will be missed Merlin. And Layla, we will share your grief when the time cones for Merlin to cross the bridge. I was told by a man of God that if we need our pets to be happy in heaven, then they will be there. That thought gives me comfort.

We are all cheering for you Merlin. Ched and Mao send purrs and maos and they tell me that you are A-OK! We love you very much! And you have more cat years to come!

Dearest Merlin we send healing purrs, purrayers, and love that you are well and stay with us in this life until it is your time to go, we are so grateful to have had you and your family as friends the past few years.
No doubt your human parents are worry about you as each year of your amazing life passes and want your final time here on Earth to be painless, peaceful, and happy. From my own experience I know how much human parents worry about this time and how we can make it easiest for our beloved fur child. I also know that it is not uncommon for our fur child to have their own wishes, and they often are the one to let us know when they are ready and/or must begin their journey to the next phase of life. I have five fur daughters at the Bridge and of those five, I had the gift of four being able to let me know that it was time, assure me it was okay and they knew they were loved. I pray you are able to share with Layla when you are ready, and whenever that time is that you both will be at peace with it even though it is the most difficult time you will spend together. When our fur kids leave us for the Bridge it can feel unbearable, we want you with us always. As much as we know we will see you again one day, you remain with us in spirit, the last moments we spend together, days afterward tend to be full of grief that can blur such comforts from memory or make them feel impossible. I hope that in the days ahead no matter what they may bring, that you remind your family to please hold these comforts close so their grief may be filled with the joy of your life and not sorrow. I know we will be doing so as we do everyday, for you deserve our love and admiration whichever phase of life each day happens to find you in.

My paws are crossed for you, Merlin! You never know what is going to happen. My human’s boyfriend’s dog is very, very old and a few weeks ago he thought he was going to lose her, but she rallied and has been doing much better. We don’t know for how much longer, but she has been around for far longer than anyone expected.
