Meet Rebecca #BornThisWay Cat With a Wonky Leg

Our shelter volunteer adoption spotlight this week is about the perfection of imperfection. Cats are remarkably resilient and adaptable. They go to great lengths to hide illness but accept genetic abnormalities with grace. Take Rebecca, a lovely and engaging young tabby at the New Rochelle Humane Society who was born with a wonky left leg. It bends as is boneless but she can walk on it with a slight limb. It doesn’t bother her and I hope it won’t delay her finding a forever home. She’s beautiful and maybe even more so because of her uniqueness. Please continue share our unique adoption graphics. Fascinated by her (in the photo below) is Pablo who is one of the few remaining cats from the big hoarding situation over a year ago. We’ve featured him several times and it’s baffling why this handsome and good guy has not been adopted.

    I have never understood how some are snatched up whole others are left behind. Rebecca is a beauty (we have 3 ‘stripeys’) and they each have quirly and distinct personalities. Rebecca has such beautiful eyes.

    Pablo needs to find a home he a handsome gent !

    Rebecca is a very pretty tabby and she doesn’t know there’s anything different about her leg. People could learn a lot from cats.

    Oh bless Rebecca – wonky legs are no big deal….I remember when my vet pronounced to my Mom that I had a wonky shoulder – it kind of pokes out on the side and is where I have now developed (at my age!) arthritis. Anyway, we are what we are on the INSIDE – regardless of how we look on the outside…..Rebecca looks like a SWEETIE as does her admirer Pablo! I wish them both TONS OF LUCK finding their forevers.

    Rebecca is beautiful. And we say that leg thing just makes her even MORE awesome. We have our paws crossed that her perfect forever home is right around the corner.

    And Pablo sounds great. Why is it sometimes that the most awesomely adoptable kitties have to wait so long to find their happily ever afters? Our friend Oreo, who is playful, snuggly, and handsome, AND who plays well with others, had to wait two years! He just got adopted last month, and is doing GREAT with his new family. 🙂

    WOW! Rebecca is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We love that Pablo “photo bombed” her. Maybe that is a sign that they are meant to be together in their furever home!! We hope and pray and purr so!

        It has been a year….I still look for him everywhere. I tell him I love him and miss him and pray every day that he is safe and well and that he knows that I love him with all of my heart. I have stopped more than one time to pursue a cat that looked like him.
        Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts, we know that you are going thru so much. We ask for blessings on you and yours every day too.

    Rebecca is terrific. Pablo is in love with her. If I could, I’d adopt Rebecca, because I have a special place in my heart for animals with a bad leg.
