Cat Camp CATastrophe: Cat Caption Contest

If you love cats, sharing makes us purrrr :-)

Lots of kids go away to camp but we have Cat Camp CATastrophe: Cat Caption Contest and a video that almost beats campfire smores.

For your mid-week amusement we’re sharing a funny video from FurBall Fables with 52 black cats. Chase Holiday makes funny, quirky cat videos and is the epitome of what it means to be a cat lady. She’s clever and curious as a cat. She’s California cool, creative and compassionate towards all living things but especially cats. All my favorite cat ladies may be a bit quirky but not crazy and never boring. Ms. Holiday has a fabulous black cat named Buddha who contributing to our Black Cats Tell All book project.

The cartoon catch of the day from last week involved two cats and a big fish. The caption which best captured the flavor, comes from blogger cat named Sammy and his clever mom Pam. What I find funny is when the cartoon was created 80 years ago, sushi was not a part of our vernacular. Now, everyone knows what sushi is but you may not all the different kinds of sushi Back

I must confess: I was one of those weird kids who did not want to go to camp. I thought it would be like Camp Catastrophe or worse.

Thank the cat gods my parents didn’t force me. I loved to travel, be adventurous, go swimming, roast marshmallows, just not share a bunk with a bunch of strangers. My family would go camping to places like Yellowstone National Park, rent beach bungalows in Maine, hike in the mountains Vermont in a kind of adult version of camp. One summer we did an epic road trip from Montreal to Los Angeles and back on Route 66. Another summer we spent six weeks in Europe. I never missed the camp experience and in my fantasies it would look like Cap CATastrophe.

Camp always reminds me of water sports, but what do I know. What kind of crazy Camp Catastrophe counselors are these kitties? Can you guess what the youngest camper or aquatic enthusiast is thinking? Tell us in a comment and may the funniest kitty win. So, did you go to camp? Do you think Cat Camp for cat lovers is a good idea?

Yay for me and my guy Sam……! It was the first thing that popped into my head when we saw the cartoon. As for camping experience – my parents were NOT campers but I did have a camping experience in Girl Scouts that I find hard to forget. Me and one other girl were “chosen” to get fresh water in buckets from the water spigot near camp which unfortunately was located in a cemetery. It was night and it was cold and we were scared and I will NEVER forget that!!! Camping – only in a luxury RV thank you very much – and that’s the only way I’ll camp these days.

    Hugs, Pam (and Sam)

We only went to “day camp” with the Girl Scouts.
We are glad to know that there is a plan B for the book!

My human’s idea of camping is staying at a hotel that doesn’t have a Target nearby! She can only take nature in small doses, say, about an hour or so.

My family traveled across country, too. Was listening to NPR just yesterday about Route 66. Have been on it but don’t remember much. Traveled by car all along the West Coast, across the Northern West to East Route (N. and S. Dakota…etc.) and along the Southern East to West Route, Arkansas, Kansas, etc.)

You can only see so much corn. But the little towns, restaurants and people in the towns are fascinating.

I spent one week at Girl Scout camp. Even though I camped with my family out West, Girl Scout camp was cold (had been snowing the week before – Near Park City before it became a resort) and…the food was terrible.

My kids loved camp. My daughter went to Girl Scout day camp; my son, too, and two weeks of sleep-over Boy Scout camp. The only problem was a major thunderstorm that caused a power outage.

Loved Brownies, but when scouting in Utah became more regimented, I said, No way! I was an assistant leader in Boston for 9 years with my daughter. I invented (well, I’m sure lots of moms invented) this method of selling a lot of cookies. GET THE CLASS PHONE LIST FROM HER BROTHER AND CALL ALL THE MOMS OF BOYS. The moms m might not have a girl. I did sell 100 boxes every year for Kristina so she could get a prize. And know she knows how to be an inventive seller!
