Everyone in the U.S seems to have flown the coop for the weekend so we’ll keep this short and sweet. Back in January, I reviewed a book I fell in love with Cat and Crow: An Amazing Friendship based on the real life friendship between Cassie, a cat and Moses, a garden variety crow made famous by this Youtube video. Both the book and the author are beautiful, charming and promote a deeper understanding of animal welfare.
Lisa Fleming, a Florida based writer did a wonderful job capturing the unique interspecies friendship in her beautifully illustrated book. I think the reason the story resonates so powerfully is the universal message of friendship regardless of age or species.
Lisa and I clicked as birds of a feather do, and I was thrilled to meet her in Florida this past winter. Since then we’ve bonded over our mutual love of cats and their welfare. Lisa has worked tirelessly doing book signings, volunteering and working at a cat sanctuary we’re both involved with. Lisa Fleming is working hard on her next book. Cat and Crow is available at Barnes & Noble.

The loving crow who stayed by her side, from dusk to dawn, named Moses. When I first viewed the Youtube video, the message they showed me was, peace, love and friendship, no matter what our color, creed or character. I love crows & cats.Had Gagee (a crow) for 16 years-was a rescue-was just out of nest & had perosis ( a condition that made him unable to perch-lower legs & feet don’t work)He was just the best(miss him so much)and have & have had many cats!
